resolv.conf rewritten every reboot. How to figure out who and why?
...is rewriting this file and why. man 5 resolv.conf and man resolver are unhelpful in this case. rpm reports /etc/resolv.conf is not owned by any package. At this point, I am as (or more) interested in pointers regarding how to find the answer as I am in the actual answer. Please teach me to fish. mahalo, Dave

centos5.5 text install forcing me to add all disks to LVM volgroup
..." So, am I stuck? It seems like my only option is to go ahead and add both disks, then try to remove one of the disks after completing the install. Is there some sort of workaround for this? What if I actually had some data on that drive (fortunately I do not), would it get wiped by this? Mahalo, Dave -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... ncdf with opendap/dods support
...ople tend to use/like for accessing netcdf files? Please let me know if you can provide some assistance in making this modified package as easy to install as possible on unix/linux/windows/etc... I can provide more info about the opendap library and what is required to link to it if you ask. Mahalo, Russell P.S. I imagine that this opendap support in R will allow us to list R on opendap.org's list of client applications, giving R some more exposure.

What repo did this rpm come from? rpm-VVa failures on new install
...lots of hits suggesting that 'yum info <packagename>' will show what repo it came from. Testing this on a couple of the packages above, I get 'Repo : installed'. Does that mean that the rpm came from the install CD? Am I missing something, is there an easier way>? mahalo, Dave

boot process glitch due to missing 2nd disk
...Is there some bios setting that is causing this? Obviously, I'd like it to just forget about the missing disk and go ahead and boot with just one, the one that was present when I installed the OS. I want to RTFM, but I'm not really certain where to start, it's outside my comfort zone. mahalo, Dave -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... What is the best practice when setting up identical software on multiple systems with heterogeneous hardware? mahalo, Dave

/etc/urandom and Solaris
I feel very silly asking this, because I saw the answer to this question one time and can't remember what it was. OpenSSH uses /dev/urandom or /dev/random which Solaris does not have (verified with a call to the Sun software folks). How do I make OpenSSH happy with a Solaris substitute for /etc/urandom?
