changing the magnification of axis annotation
Hi all,
how do I change the magnification of xaxis annotation? I need a smaller
axis text size in some of my plots. I tried cex.axix=0.5 in plot(), but
this doesn't work.
Thanks, Sven

Boxplots over a Scatterplot
Hello-
I'm new to R, coding and stats. (Oh no.)
Anyway, I have about 12000 data points in a data.frame (dealing with
dimensions and geological stage information for fossil protists) and have
plotted them in a basic scatter plot. I also added a boxplot to overlay
these points. Each worked fine independently, but when I attempt to
superimpose them with add=true, I get a different scale for

Can I scale the labels in a 'persp' graph?
Hi all:
I'm using 'persp' for 3D graphics.
I need the axis's labels smaller than by defect.
I see in 'help()', the information about 'par()'.
I have wrote:
>par(.....,cex.axis=0.5,cex.lab=0.5)
perspc(.................)
and the result don't change.
The question is: Can I change the size of labels in the perps graph??
Thank you in advance:

Font anti-aliasing in wine?
One of the things that DOES make a big difference for me is font-antialiasing (AA). (OK, maybe I am picky). Does anyone have experience/knowledge on that subject?
What surprises me is that for a few fonts (BitStream Vera Sans, for instance), it is active, whereas it is completely absent for most others. Why is that? (BTW, I just found out that I get the best results so far for the new MS font

How does the cex parameter scale circles?
I'm wondering how the cex parameter is used to scale circles (i.e. does it scale the radius, diameter, area, circumference, etc.?). In my case I'm using lattice with filled circles (pch=19).
Based on example, it looks like R scales the radius of the circle:
library(lattice)
dta<-data.frame(x=rep(1,6),y=rep(1,6),sz=c(1,2,4,8,16,32))

Can the WINE window be larger on high resolution settings?
I was reading this post http://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?p=45535&sid=6957add8af3402a8afa68d8527121e2d
and others like it looking for a way to make the content in the WINE window look larger.
I mean to look like 800x600 resolution when the monitor settings is at 1024x768.
So, I have typed this on the command line:
Code:
wine explorer /desktop=spider,800x600 spider.exe or wine explorer

axTicks and window resizing
Dear listers,
I have written a function to facilitate the drawing of altitude profiles
with x (distance), y (altitude) and a z parameter (altitude magnification).
profplot<-function(x,y,z=10,...){

par(mai=c(0.95625,0.76875,0.76875,0.95625))
plot(x,y*z, type="l",asp=1,las=1,xlab="",ylab="",yaxt="n",...)

change axis labels and text size in "splom"
Hi everyone:
I'm using "splom" to draw scatterplot matrix. I'm wondering how can I change the axis labels to c(1,10,100,1000,...)
instead of c(1,2,3,...), and also how can I change the text size (for labels)?
Thanks a lot!

Acer Aspire Photographer in need of expert help
Ladies and gentlemen
Can someone help me? I have just bought an AS One 120 gig+Linpus Linux as a photo storage device. It is a fabulous machine for the job as the screen is incredibly sharp and the whole deal is better than say the Epson P3000 device.
I use a pair of Canon 400D's and only shoot in Raw. The default image viewer (gThumb??) is fantastic as it does a slide show at the same time

running a magnifier through wine on ubuntu
I'm trying to run Magnifying Glass from the Workers Collection on ubuntu through wine, and it works pretty well. Unfortunately, it is running so that it is always the active window which makes it impossible to type anything while the program is running. Is there a way to change this so that instead of being the active window it is simply, "always on top"?

zooming wine windows?
Hi,
I have the following issue, and I wonder if Wine support such a feature.
I have a game (Fallout 1), that natively runs in full screen, at a
resolution of 640x480. The game itself does not support other resolutions.
I have the option to run the game fullscreen with wine - which works
fine. But this is not what I want to do.
I can run the game in a window (using the virtual desktop feature

Windows plots & fontsize
I recently wrote a package that runs on both Linux and Windows.
The functions fetch data to an SQL database and make diverse plots,
usually with many labels and annotations.
I recently noticed that on SOME windows computers the fonts
in the plots were too large, which caused labels to overlap.
On other windows computers this does not happen.
However on both computers the command

plot
Hello!
I use the version 1.4.0 for Windows. I have made boxplots but only half of
the symbols (three letters each) show up on the X-axis? How t can one
change their size or orientation so that all show up? I attach the pdf file
to illustrate better the problem.

logos and goodies
I've got a couple questions related to my search (in vain) for an "R" tshirt
or coffee mug. The first question is simply: is there a higher-resolution
R logo available than the one at r-developer.org? (or the modified one
provided by useR conference pages)
Next: what are the chances of someone in the "R management" setting up a

Query: how to modify the plot of acf
I need to modify the graph of the autocorrelation. I tried to do it through plot.acf but with no success.
1. I would like to get rid of the lag zero
2. I would like to have numbers on the x-axis only at lags 12, 24, 36, 48, 60, ...
Could anybody help me in this?
Any help will be appreciated
Thank you for your attention
