Question: backslash in file name
...s, i.e:
Log\GEN_INPUT_BASED_2899.csv
not a problem for Unix but Samba present it to Windows users as:
L2CYOP~L.CSV
Is there any way _in Samba_ to strip this 'Log\' and give back to user the GEN_INPUT_BASED_2899.csv part.
Tha appliance (EMC Celerra) I've just migrated data from, was magicaly doing this.
Thanks for your time and any hint.
Regards,
Chris

Need tip on an inexpensive printer for college student using CentOS 5.5
Sending my son back to college with a dual-boot laptop with Win 7 and
CentOS 5.5. He uses Win7 to manage his iPod and SW that sometimes
issued by a professor for a specific course...otherwise he uses CentOS
for everything else. That setup worked well last year, except for
printing. He has a low-end Cannon printer that is not supported in the
Linux realm.

rpm - diff and patch updating
I am attempting to create a rpm of the latest version of a program. The
rpm for the previous version contains a number of patch files that make
numerous changes various files in the tar.gz as downloaded from the
project's website so it will work properly on Linux.
The latest version of the program has changed enough stuff that some of
the patches now fail to apply. "1 out of 1 hunk
