Followup: MP3Player cmd issue (for Asterisk OS X users)
Getting the proper version of MPG123 (v0.59r) setup under OS X was unusually complicated for me. Sorry for pestering the list with the MP3Player() issues I kept posting about. Your inbox will be happy to know that I finally got the correct file at: http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/6275 What I did was: (1) First, download the installer at: http://www.macupdate.com/download.php/6275/mpg123-0.59r.pkg.tgz (2) un-tar/gzip the resulting file (3) cntrl+clicked on the resulting 'mpg123-0.59r.pkg' and selected "Show Package Contents" (4) navigated...

Newbie Samba question from a (lowly) Mac user
...up, I can't copy a file into my own Linux hierarchy because it says my Linux machine has no space left (which is not right). I'm guessing this is all the Mac's fault due to it's version or implementation of Samba. Apple is not very good at supporting/updating this kind of thing. On macupdate.com I note that samba 3.4.3 is available for the Mac, but: 1. Unlike pretty much every other platform, there is no prebuilt binary/installer for the Mac. 2. It seems to be a server only and I'm guessing I just need a client. Assuming my Samba issues are all on the Mac side, does anyone have a...

Ogg Vorbis QuickTime Component
Hi all, I don't know if this is the place to ask about this, but I'm going to try anyway. There is an ogg-vorbis plugin for iTunes on Mac OS X that is downloadable from http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/14259 or http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/mac/13012&mode=feedback Unfortunately, this plug-in (a Quicktime component) crashes iTunes for the latest version of Quicktime (7). Despite over a month's worth of complaints about this (see the messages posted at the ab...

gdi32.dll error
Hello, I encounter the same problem on MacOSX 10.5.6, either using X11 supplied with Leopard, or X11 2.3.3.2 (XQuartz) and Xcode 3.1.2. It appears using Darwine 1.1.21 from Kronenberg, Darwine 1.1.7 from thisismyinter.net, or the lastest wine-1.1.21, compiled from source. The only way to use wine is to installed wine stable from MacPorts or the Kronenberg's 1.1.21. Hardly, it

Which file system to use for a USB backup
I have some photographs on my Centos 4 server that I want to copy to a USB drive. However, I want to be able to access the files from Windows or Mac OS's. Where should I look for instructions on how to mount and format the USB drive and is FAT32 the only option? Many thanks -- Ariste Software Petaluma, CA 94952 http://www.aristesoftware.com

Asterisk-and-MacOSX News
...ers who know how to use one of the various XYZ-to-ObjC bridges with their preferred language and who would like to contribute to some of the stuff we're doing, please contact me off-list. Before I close, please allow me to ask for a little help with getting the OSX build of Asterisk listed at MacUpdate.com. I have submitted twice and sent email to them asking why it didn't show up in their catalog yet. I got a response from some Joel telling me they've never seen anything. Sent them another email with URLs and all the rest of it, but still nothing and now silence. Perhaps, they don't...

Core Audio player for OS X?
There are a few flac players on OS X now, but none (at least none that i know of) seem to use Core Audio. So they all freak out if i try to play a 24/96 file. I was recently poking around with the Tiger X Code tools and there's a simple core audio player in there /Developer/Examples/CoreAudio/Services/AudioFileTools/ called afplay. how hard would it be to get this thing playing flac
