Linux and SMB using single passwd
Hi All, I would like to set up a samba server but using the same user / pass for unix logins and smb logins. This works fine if I use non-encrypted passwords but I have to apply the registry patch to set my win98 clients to use non-encrypted passwords. Could I use pam_smb to authenticate the Linux box against its own smb server then use encrypted smb passwords? I understand that if the smb

RE Linux and SMB using single passwd
Thanks for the reply. This will not quite do what I want as I dont want local unix users, only smb users. Reason: if a smb user is added and only an smb user and the Linux system uses pam _smb, I can deliver pop mail to the user without them having a local unix user. I have this working very well with LDAP and NIS where I only add a NIS or LDAP user but no unix users and I can still deleiver

I want to modify and update the items in the Depot - "display_cart". Since the cart is in a session, its a little hard to get at the data. I just want to create a way to change quantities, prices and recalculate. Has someone done this, and could you point me to the right direction. Thanks Chas -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Fwd: --link-dest does not appear to be linking on Cygwin
...tant is that the NAS handles the hard-links correctly. I checked the archives and it looks like a common mistake is inconsistent usage of the trailing backslash. My usage looks something like: % rsync -aP --delete --delete-excluded --exclude-from=/home/Nancy/.rsync/exclude --link-dest=/cygdrive/f/macki/current/ Nancy /cygdrive/f/macki/incomplete-back-2012-06-05T13:53:51 I'm running this from "/cygwin/c/Documents and Settings/" directory, and the directory under the symlink "current" is "Nancy". Is there a way to tell if rsync thinks it's found a match and a...

Tracktion
This is being offered gratis till the end of december by Mackie. This one might just be coaxed into running under Wine which would be quite an achievement. Kudos: 1. The program, though free, needs be registered to a "machine number". Did this under Windows, did not get that far using Wine. Might need a second copy just for the Linux runs. 2. T...

Rails setup for multi-user environment?
Is there a way to set up rails on a shared server so that multiple developers don''t each have to install their own copies? We''ve got an (internal) shared-hosting server to which I want to add rails, but I''m not even sure it''s possible, much less how to do it. Basic scenario (machines are Linux): 1 - scripting server, serves PHP and perl via Apache.

...NY version of Samba on HPUX 11.0, then I'd certainly appreciate hearing from you (an email with the Samba version would be great)! This would at least let me know that what I'm trying to achieve is proven and working for someone else. Thanks in advance for any help! Dialplan reload not reloading everything
Good morning, We recently fell back to the most recent build of asterisk 1.8 down from 11.3 and I believe we've crossed some sort of limit for 1.8. Our dialplan is 515723 entries long with 6263 distinct contexts. Both are loaded realtime via odbc (mysql). Previously at the end of a dialplan reload we would get a summary of how long it took to reload everything. Now it just shows the last line

MIT vs GPL vs LGPL for open source project
I intend to release a project I wrote with Rails. What is the right licensing scheme for a web application (content managing system) which could grow with plugins and add-ons ? Personally, I would prefer the GPL but does that mean any add-on to the CMS (like task management) will have to be GPL ? If some people contribute to the code could it still be double-licenced so that the people who
