Enventid 3224: Errors in chaning machine password.
Hi,
I got a problem using Samba 3.0.2a w Openldap as passwordstore. When my
machines tries to reset their machinepasswords, they report the
following error:
Eventid: 3224 : stub contained bad data while trying to change the
machine password.
(please relate to the eventid as the text has been partly translated
from norwegian)
What I am wondering about is the following:
a) Has anyone else experienced errors like this...

Howto set/reset/reaad computer account password with samba-4.9.x examples?
Hi list,
I want to perform a domain join of a computer to a given machine account
with reusing it, not overwriting. For this I think, it is the right way
(for a unattend.xml) to use the <machinePassword> described here:

Before running the script, a registry key needs to be added:
reg add HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Netlogon\Parameters /v SiteName /t REG_SZ /d Default-First-Site-Name-Perimeter
Then run the script like:
cscript JoinScript.vbs /domain YOURDOMAIN /machinepassword "THE_PASSWORD" /dc RODC_FQDN /readonly
I spend a lot of time trying to join a Samba domain member server to an Windows read-only AD, but I couldn't get it to work. My impression is that Samba is not playing very well with site perimeters, but I cannot recall the details.
