Installing views in R2.15.3
Hi,
Please what am I doing wrong? I tried installing some views (eg MachineLearning, Multivariate) on R2.15.3, but it keeps on telling me that the package is not available for 2.15.3. Is it true?
Thanks

please recommend hands-on books on classification, data-mining and machine learning with R?
Hi all,
Could anybody please recommend some hands-on books on classification,
data-mining and machine learning with R? I would like to get a very
good understanding of the statistical tools that are used in these
areas, while reducing the learning curve.
Thank you!

R and Supervised learning
...e.g. on "text processing R" or some such; or try Rseek.org with
such searches. R has extensive text processing capabilities, e.g. via
regex's.
3. "Supervised Learning algorithm" is far too vague to be useful.
4. See this CRAN task view:

4. The answer to your query is almost certainly yes, but you may have to do
some reading to clarify your thinking. As this involves primarily
statistical issues, you may wish to post on a statistical site like

R and Supervised learning
Hi,
I am currently find myself selecting manually amoungts several hundreds
Google Alerts (GA) texts those that are indeed relevant for my research vs
those which are not (despite they are triggered by some relevant seach
keywords).
Basically each week I get several hundreds GA email such as:

Regression tree: labels in the terminal nodes
Dear everybody,
I'm a new user of R 2.4.1 and I'm searching for information on improving
the output of regression tree graphs.
In the terminal nodes I am up to now able to indicate the number of
values (n) and the mean of all values in this terminal node by the command
> text(tree, use.n=T, xpd=T)
Yet I would like to indicate automatically in the output graph of the
tree some

OFFTOPIC: SPARK Y H2O
Buenas erreros!!

Statistical / data mining methods in R and not in SAS?
Hi, and sorry for asking such an unspecific question.
Does anybody know of statistical / data mining methods that are available in R
that are not in SAS ? With SAS I mean the SAS System Version 9.4 and SAS
Enterprise Miner. I don't expect a complete list, just two or three examples
or hints where and what to look for.
I found some older comparisons, and the R methods mentioned there

help for R code
Good morning dear administrators,
Please help me to code this code in R.
I use in this file the redescription function ? which by making a scalar
product gives a . You can also choose instead of the redescription function

R-core package cross compilation help
Hi,
I am a beginner to R language and currently exploring R to use it for
machine learning use case. My requirement is to include R-core package in
my embedded linux box which runs on customized Monta Vista Linux with
kernel 2.6.32 and it has multi-core MIPS processor.
I hope, there is NO pre-compiled R package for Monta vista linux and mips
processor. So, i am trying to do cross compilation

Count data in random Forest
Respected Sir
Good Evening. My name is V.Suriya, I am a research scholar. Doing my Ph.D
at University of Madras, Tamil Nadu, India. I need the r code for random
forest count data. It helps me lot to complete my research work sir.
And also need the r code for comparison of predictors with the help of
mtry, best size, best node.
Thanks and Regards

ripper
Is there some decision tree method available with R, like ripper, that ends
up producing a list of the rules and can be used for prediction?

good boosting tutorial and package in R?
Hi all,
Could you please give me some pointers about what's the best boosting
package in R currently?
in terms of classification accuracy?
And any pointers about tutorials and study-materials to curb the
learning curve will be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!
p.s. Does anybody happen to know Boosting implemented in other
language such as Matlab?
Are they good in terms of accuracy?

Neural Networks
Hi,
I am starting to play around with neural networks and noticed that there are
several packages on the CRAN website for neural networks (AMORE, grnnR,
neural, neuralnet, maybe more if I missed them).
Are any of these packages more well-suited for newbies to neural networks?
Are there any relative strengths / weaknesses to the different
implementations?
If anyone has any advice before I dive

Neural Networks in R - Query
Dear R users,
I'd like to ask your guidance regarding the following two questions: (i) I
just finished reading Chris Bishop's book "Neural Networks for Pattern
Recognition". Although the book gave me good theoretical foundation about
NN, I'm now looking for something more practical regarding architecture
selection strategies. Is there any good reference about "best
