See i need to do the following; mount -t smbfs //<machine_name>/<share> /home/<usr_name>/music ...only thing is, I have to run the cmd as a regular user. The easiest thing would offcourse be to have i run at when booting, but i don't know how to do that. Any help to get from you guys? Another possibility would be to make the mount-cmd us...

Kerberos Keytab Code Update in 3.0.23
First thing - I'd like to say a big "THANK YOU" to the developers. I just upgraded to samba-3.0.23 and I've noticed an alarming issue with respect to my configuration. I've been using the built-in keytab management and it looks like the updated code no longer creates the userPrincipal in Active Directory. Whether this is an issue for others or not, it would be nice to have

machine add error to samba PDC
Hi All, I have setup my samba as a PDC and testparm gives me the right result, but when I am trying to add my XP client to SAMBA I receive an error as "Logon failure: bad username or password" or "Username could not be found". I am using root as the domain administrator and have added root account using smbpasswd and can see it using pdbedit -Lv. I can logon successfully

Logging in to the domain
Hi again! ;) Sorry if I'm being a pest, but I'd really like to be able to have my samba as a PDC. Okay, I've now joined the domain and rebooted. Now I'd like to login to the domain. On the login screen, I've chosen a name which is in the LDAP and thus should be a domain user. I've also selected to login to MDKGROUP (domain name); ie. I changed it from

vnc console from Mac
Hi, I''ve run into a problem, and no amount of Googling seems to help. I''m running Xen 3.4 and have the consoles of my DOMUs setup to be VNC. I can connect to them just fine from Chicken of the VNC etc etc. I cannot, however, connect using the built in vnc client using vnc://machine_name:59XX. I''m running os X 10.6.3 BTW Has anyone found a way around this? My end game is a web page with links that will start a VNC viewer to appropriate machines. Any thoughts? Thanks for any input. Unable to add machine
Hi All, I have a setup using tdbsam as a backend, I can add accounts using pdbedit -a <username> but I have only been able to add one machine account. I can't figure out why. # pdbedit -a -m test tdb_update_sam: SAM_ACCOUNT (test$) with no RID! Unable to add machine! (does it already exist?) I have verified that there is no entry in /etc/passwd or /etc/shadow for the machine name I

XP Pro connecting to PDC
...don't think that this has worked because of errors in the log file, (yes I can provide, and yes I am using the smb user root). Then when I reboot and attempt to login with a domain user, I get refused with the 'Windows cannot connect to the domain,.....' error. In the log file for the machine_name, the last error is 'Can't become connected user'. Higher up (when logging verbosity is cranked up) in the log file, it 'appears' that the computer is attempting to connect to the domain, but it somehow ends up using the 'Guest' account?! I don't know if this is nor...

How do boot a xen domu into run level 1
Hi, I have a C5.8 machine with several DomU's. I fubared the fstab on one of them and I need to get it into single user mode. Does anyone know how to do that? I tried adding single to the extras line in /etc/xen/machine_name but it still tries to start in level 3. To make things worse, the root partition is on LVM. Alternatively, does anyone know how to access the image from DomU? I tried to use kpartx but when I run VGscan, I do not get the lvm activated. Regards, -- Tom me at tdiehl.org Spamtrap address me...
