Noob problems with Darwine
I've installed darwine 1.1.9 on my mac. I've read all of the tutorials and forums that I could find but I'm still not able to solve my problem. I imagine I must be missing something that's so obvious that it doesn't even make its way into a tutorial. I can't run programs. If I start winehelper and try to run a program (say regedit.exe) I get the errors at the end of

does glusterfs implement vfs api ?
Hi, Does GlusterFS implement the Linux VFS functionality. I know its a user space FS, but user space FS should also implement VFS funtions. Is this true also to GlusterFS ? ...ctionality. > I know its a user space FS, but user space FS should also implement VFS > funtions. > Is this true also to GlusterFS ? The way I like to think about it is GlusterFS implements the Linux FUSE API/ABI, which on Linux is integrated into the Linux VFS layer. For Macs there is MacFUSE and *BSD have Linux FUSE capability; each is integrated with its own FS abstraction which doesn't necessarily map 1:1 with the Linux VFS layer. -- Kaleb

Rsync 3.0.0pre8 and Mac OS X
Hi, I tried Rsync 3.0.0pre8 on my mac running os X 10.5. I was very pleased about the --iconv feature, as i have to sync some LINUX-machines and I had really trouble with some filenames. But I found one strange thing in connection with the mac. First of all, the translation between the LINUX ISO-8859-15 and the mac ut-8 works (nearly) perfect. As I live in Germany, we have often filenames

are hardlinks supported when rsyncing over ssh?
Subject should be enough: are hardlinks supported when rsyncing over ssh? I know that I cannot do anything with hardlinks if I'm using SSHFS over FUSE, I was wondering if rsync is plagued by the same problem. Matt

Which file system to use for a USB backup
I have some photographs on my Centos 4 server that I want to copy to a USB drive. However, I want to be able to access the files from Windows or Mac OS's. Where should I look for instructions on how to mount and format the USB drive and is FAT32 the only option? Many thanks -- Ariste Software Petaluma, CA 94952 http://www.aristesoftware.com

RSPerl and Statistics::R
Greetings! Being a Perl hacker for some time, and wanting to leverage what R provides, I've been trying to work with Statistics::R and RSPerl. The former has a race condition that breeds some unreliability and the latter seems to have issues all around, and neither has been updated in some time. Are these projects are abandoned, or is there some effort currently being undertaken to
