Xen on AM2 nForce 590 (Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe)
...AM2 motherboards, but I don''t
think any of those motherboards were based on the nForce 590 chipset.
(Ah the joys of bleeding edge hardware. Fortunately it''s merely
convenience that I''m trying to put Xen on this box for testing. Down
the road I plan on using the Asus M2NPV-VM or Asus M2N-E motherboards
instead. The M2NPV-VM uses a nForce 430 MCP chipset and the M2N-E uses
nForce 570 Ultra MCP chipset.)

cheap mobo/cpu combo with hardware virtualization support?
I''ve currently got a Xen 2 system running on a CL10000 VIA system. I''d
like to upgrade to Xen 3 and make use of the hardware virtualization
support in Xen (sometimes). My requirements then:
1) Cheap CPU. AMD or Intel. Must have Xen3 hardware VM support. Any speed.
2) Lower power consumption from the CPU
3) Cheap mobo to support the chip.
4) Decent raid-1 SATA support on the

size units in xen-create-image, and other newbie doubts
...e host sees /dev/mapper stuff and the md (RAID1), will the
domUs see LVM disks as xvds by default? Regardless of whether i create
them directly with LVM or using xen-create-image?
Sorry for all the questions, i'll glady take pointers to detailed
howtos and mans.
Eh, the hardware's an Asus M2NPV-VM motherboard with an Ahlon64, 8GiB
DDR2 RAM and two SATA drives, one 160GB and one 1TB. 159GB are RAIDed
and those and the remainder are LVMed into two VGs. There's an onboard
nvidia Geforce and a PCI ATI/Asus Radeon HD 50** (i'd like to
passthrough it to the desktop PV eventually).

network config files in centos 5 changing
What is happening in centos 5 with network config files???
I have a machine with 2 network cards.
ifcfg-eth1 keeps changing to DHCP. All my static setup is gone.
Why is it doing this? How can I stop it?
I run "netconfig -d eth1" and re-setup my static information. I reboot and
now I am back to DHCP.
I have a gigabyte motherboard, nvidia chipset. forcedeth driver. eth0 is
e1000.

ASUS M2V?
Anyone use the ASUS M2V motherboard. This is the current board I am
looking at for AM2/HVM because of the number of slots.
Thanks,
Greg

[Bug 26201] New: Some screen garbage, NoAccel and GPU lockup reported with NV4E

drm/nouveau lines from dmesg
This is a weird one, so bear with me.
I'm using nouveau-linux git (eeec3a1) and KMS on the GeForce 6150 (NV4E)
embedded in my M2NPV-VM motherboard. When I load the nouveau module, the
kernel logs the following, but the console appears to work just fine:
[drm] nouveau 0000:00:05.0: GPU lockup - switching to software fbcon
When I start up the X server, it reports a similar error:

SMART
On Solaris x86, does zpool (or anything) support PATA (or SATA) IDE
SMART data? With the Predictive Self Healing feature, I assumed that
Solaris would have at least some SMART support, but what I''ve googled so
far has been discouraging.

Hardware requirements
I don't seem to be able to find the necessary hardware
specs for an Asterisk server. What I have in mind is a
dedicated server to serve 50 or so people. All users
will use SIP phones and there will be an ISDN gateway
for outgoing/incoming calls. Do you have any
suggestions about the server specs (CPU, RAM, HD,
etc)?
Also, has anyone used Epigi Quadro ISDN gateway with
Asterisk? If so, what is

Cheap ZFS homeserver.
So after toying around with some stuff a few months back I got bogged down and set this project aside for a while. Time to revisit.

Looking around there still is not a good "these cards/motherboards" work list. the HCL is hardly ever updated, and its far more geared towards business use than hobbyist/home use. So bearing all of that in mind I will need the

ZFS Inexpensive SATA Whitebox
All,
So I have started working with Solaris 10 at work a bit (I''m a Linux
guy by trade) and I have a dying nfs box at home. So the long and short of
it is as follows: I would like to setup a SATAII whitebox that uses ZFS as
its filesystem. The box will probably be very lightly used, streaming media
to my laptop and workstation would be the bulk of the work. However I do
have quite a
