ibm m1015 w/sandy bridge boot failure
I have a server running CentOS 6.0. Last night I replaced the CPU and motherboard. Old hardware: Supermicro x8sil-f + x3440. New hardware: Supermicro x9scl+-f + E3-1230. This is a new Sandy Bridge Xeon. Everything else remained the same, including an IBM m1015 SAS HBA. This is just an IBM re-branded LSI 92xx-8i (9220-8i specifically I believe), which uses the LSI SAS2008 chipset and the megaraid_sas driver. It worked without any issue on the old motherboard/cpu. However, with the new motherboard/cpu, the system makes it through the BIOS POST without any...

Has anyone used a Dell with a PERC H310?
Hello Sa?o! I found you here: http://mail.opensolaris.org/pipermail/zfs-discuss/2012-May/051546.html "How about reflashing LSI firmware to the card? I read on Dell''s spec sheets that the card runs an LSISAS2008 chip, so chances are that standard LSI firmware will work on it. I can send you all the required bits to do the reflash, if you like." I got Dell Perc H310 controller

Xen IBM X3400 boots dead
I am attempting to install a Xen solution on an IBM X3400.  The raid card is the IBM M1015 which is based on the LSI 9220-8I. I followed the directions on the tutorial called "RHEL6 Xen4 Tutorial" at http://wiki.xen.org/wiki/RHEL6_Xen4_Tutorial .  When I attempt to boot the kernel the computer freezes. I don''t get any errors or anything helpful. I have also attempt...

OT hardware issue: HP controller to 3rd party RAID
...it's got: the ethernet connection is to the internal > webserver to manage the RAID. the 712S I have is dual-path SAS for data. then yeah, you'll need a plain SAS2 external HBA card. If your server is older, with PCI-Express v1 or v2, then a LSI 9211-8e or similar would be fine (IBM M1015 are a common cheap OE version of the same thing), as long as you flash that to be in "IT" (Initiator-Target) mode as they usually come in IR (Integrated Raid). If the server is PCI-Express v3, then you'll want a newer card based on the LSI 2308 chip, such as the HP H221 I mention...

I've been googling, and haven't yet found the answer: does anyone here know if a MegaRAID SAS 2008 (falcon) (rev 03) can handle drives bigger than 2TB? mark

JBOD / ZFS / Flash backed
Yes the flash-backed RAID cards use a super-capacitor to backup the flash cache. You have a choice of flash module sizes to include on the card. The card supports RAID modes as well as JBOD. I do not know if Gluster can make use of battery-backed flash-based Cache when the disks are presented by the RAID card in JBOD. The Hardware vendor asked "Do you know if Gluster makes use of

JBOD / ZFS / Flash backed
Your question is difficult to parse. Typically RAID and JBOD are mutually exclusive. By "flash-backed", do you mean a battery backup unit (BBU) on your RAID controller? LSI SAS2008 Option Rom Failure
Hi- I am trying to pass an LSI SAS2008-based HBA (IBM M1015) through to an HVM Solaris VM, using Xen 4.2 unstable and the qemu-traditional device model. On boot I see the following error: MPT BIOS Fault 09h encountered at adapter PCI(00h,05h,00h) A list search yielded (http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.comp.emulators.xen.devel/128172), however there was no...
