lxde
Hi all, anyone know when lxde will be available for centos? Fedora lxde was nice but its end of life is far to short for a server. Thanks Gary.

After a while (maybe 20 or 30 secs) the system reacts to me having pressed or pressing ctrl+alt+F1 and I create log from that console. In case that I haven't pressed that shortcut yet, the display is almost unu...

Changing the appearance of the login box
I'm the founder and lead developer of the lightweight Linux distro Swift Linux. I'm currently in the process of switching from the old antiX Linux base to the new Linux Mint Debian Edition base. The new Swift Linux will be using LightDM instead of SLiM. I've found that replacing LMDE's default GDM display manager with SLiM disables many functions (like audio). Restoring these

Home LAN server - dnsmasq
...cp-host=judge The specific problem I'm having is that of the virtual 'clients', only one of them is getting assigned an IP address from the list in /etc/hosts. 'asmodean', running Ubuntu 9.10 gets its IP address of 10.0.0.2 as planned. The other two, demandred (running F12+LXDE) and lanfear (running Debian 5.03 Lenny), get randomly assinged IP addresses from the pool defined in dnsmasq.conf (10.0.0.50-10.0.0.100) like one would normally expect for a *dynamically* assigned lease. Except I wanted them to get fixed leases based on /etc/hosts. I've looked at most ev...

[Bug 60516] New: nouveau driver graphics corrupted in 3.7 kernel for nvidia FX5200 [NV34] hardware
...er provides a corrupted display when booting to a PC with an older nvidia FX5200 graphic card. This was tested with: * openSUSE-12.3 32-bit beta1 KDE liveCD and 3.7.1 kernel * openSUSE-12.3 32-bit RC1 KDE liveCD and 3.7.6-1.2 kernel * openSUSE-12.2 with the 32-bit Tumbleweed 3.7.2-18 kernel (on an LXDE desktop) * Porteus-1.2 (release candidate version) which has the 3.7.5 kernel (and is slackware based). * Bodhi-2.2.0-32 which has the 3.7.0-7 kernel (and is Ubuntu based) I rolled back the openSUSE-12.2 with the 32-bit Tumbleweed 3.7.2-18 kernel (which I noted had the graphics corruption) to a 3....

Lots of bugs in xubuntu lucid
...l S-video and Composite outputs, 64 MB of memory. I installed xubuntu, and tried to use nouveau driver instead of official nvidia's. After switching driver, the boot splash xubuntu logo turned into poor coloured low-resolutioned one, but X loaded normally. Xfce worked fine, but i decided to try LXDE with SLiM login manager. So, here's bugs: 1) X server is loading normally, but when i try to switch to virtual terminal (Ctrl-Fx) my monitor shows me "Out of range" message, keyboard and mouse are switching off too and it makes me to reboot pc to get back. 2) When i trying to boo...

samba4.2.0 crashes on connection attempt with an internal samba error...
...test it, seeing as how sernet hasn't got > round to releasing 4.2 packages yet and then Peter posted that he had > got 4.2 running on jessie. I would love to know how he did this ? Oh. I am a pretty newbie on this field. Maybe that helped... First I install the basic system including LXDE. On the problem loaden notebook I messed this up by an unsuccessful attempt to install the non-free Nvidia drivers - no way to get the history of this clear. Anyway, next I install ntp, xfs utilities. Next bind9 as slave DNS pointing to my AD DCs. On the notebook I used the Debian repository,...

Related to the new laptop question: CentOS on a netbook?
I've got a netbook, circe 2009. When I got it, not that I was wild about ubuntu, but there was specifically an ubuntu netbook remix. Well, it's a few years later - has anyone put CentOS (6, preferably) on a netbook, and were there any problems? mark
