resize LVM (ext3)
...ystem/swap, swap
- system/home, ext3 mounted as /home (431GB)
I need to shrink system/home to 80GB (currently there is 57GB used) and use
free space to create another logical volumes.
My scenario is
1. reduce ext3 fs size to 80GB by using resize2s
2. reduce system/home size by using lvreduce
3. create another logical volumes
Questions
1. How can i be sure that i will shrink ext3 to exact size 80GB and that
the same will lvreduce do? I do not want to cut from ext3 filesystem if i
will reduce logical volume too much
2. Can you please send me commands to achieve 1) and 2...

I know lvextend and lvreduce commands but I prefer to use the GUI which
is less prompt to errors (specially when shrinking your volume).
Still, I?m talking about any known live CD which contains
system-config-lvm or any other GUI tool.
Thanks

shrink LV with ext3 filesystem
Hi.
I want to make a snapshot from a logical volume and noticed that there
must be enough free disk space in the volume group. Actually there is no
free disk space left.
How do i shrink online /var without losing any data or restore from
backup? I do not have physical access to the server.

what''s correct way of shrinking LVM based domU?
Hi all
I want to shrink one of my LVM based domU''s, but don''t quite know how to
do it.
I have searched the Wiki & HOWTO''s, and they all show you how expand /
enlarge a LVM based domU, but not shrinking it.
So, I stopped (destroyed) the domU, and then resized it as follows:
lvresize /dev/data/cpanel1 -L10GB (It was 100GB), but when I a started
it up again, I

I make no promises that it is there, but you could try
system-config-lvm.
If that doesn't work, the lvextend and lvreduce commands should work for
you.

Consolidating LVM volumes..
Hi,
Something I haven't done before is reduce the number of volumes on my
server.. Here is my current disk setup..
[root at server1 /]# df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/mapper/VolGroup00-RootVol00
15G 1.5G 13G 11% /
/dev/md0 190M 42M 139M 24% /boot
/dev/mapper/VolGroup00-DataVol00
39G 16G

HA! You only really need to learn *one* command: the man command. The man
provides 'enlightenment' for all other commands:
man vgdisplay
man lvdisplay
man lvcreate
man lvextend
man lvresize
man lvreduce
man lvremove
man e2fsck
man resize2fs
These are the only LVM commands I use regularly (yes there a a pile more, but
most are rarely used and a handful only used in startup/shutdown scripts or
when rescuing) and I often end up use the man command to refresh my memory of
the command options.

Convert from LVM
...file, it describes
that option as follows:
# Configuration option devices/issue_discards.
# Issue discards to PVs that are no longer used by an LV.

Convert from LVM
I have a Centos 7 install using EXT4 on LVM. Its running as a VM
inside KVM. Issue I have run into is that fstrim does not work due to
the LVM. Without fstrim snapshots have gotten huge. Is there a way
convert it from LVM to non-LVM without a complete reinstall?
