Well, I would mount XP domU machine with a mount, like this:
mount /dev/virtual_machines/xp_disk /mnt/lvm_disk/
mount: you must specify the filesystem type
If I use -t ntfs, I obtain:
mount -t ntfs /dev/virtual_machines/xp_disk /mnt/lvm_disk/
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock
