Why report LVDS as disconnected when lid is closed?
What's the motivation behind commit 60821e0 (drm/nouveau: report LVDS
as disconnected if lid closed)? The only noticeable effect I can see
from it is that if I turn on my laptop and then close the lid, X fails
to start as it can't find any screens. In fact, if I close the lid
before nouveau initialises, I don't even get a framebuffer console.
I know I can...

[Nouveau-cvs] xf86-video-nv: Branch 'master'
You need these ports for LVDS?
Because i know these ports are correct for dvi and friends.
So if you changed them for lvds, we need to seperate port 4 and 5 into
lvds and non-lvds.

[PATCH] drm/nv04: fix null pointer dereferences of native_mode
...up, reject the mode if GPU scaling is enabled but
native mode is not known.
In nv04_dfp_mode_set, use clock value from nv_encoder->mode instead of
nv_connector->native_mode. If panel scaling is enabled on a TMDS display
and the display did not have a valid EDID, native_mode is NULL.
In nv04_lvds_dpms and nv04_dfp_restore, refuse to turn on an LVDS panel
if native mode is not known. While clock is not always required for
turning panel on, having an LVDS without native mode means something went
wrong already, so trying to turn panel on only in cases where clock is
required would yield no add...

Why do non-lvds monitors default to dithering these days?
...o tell, because it's subtle to see
these effects.
Ofcource i can try and find a way to set the connector property more
permanently (if anyone has suggestions besides sticking an xrandr
command in my .xinitrc please let me know), but i don't see why we
would need to assume that anything but lvds and eDP needs to be
dithered.

[PATCH] drm/nouveau: fix blank LVDS screen regression on pre-nv50 cards
Commit 2a44e499 ("drm/nouveau/disp: introduce proper init/fini, separate
from create/destroy") started to call display init routines on pre-nv50
hardware on module load. But LVDS init code sets driver state in a way
which prevents modesetting code from operating properly.
nv04_display_init calls nv04_dfp_restore, which sets encoder->last_dpms to
NV_DPMS_CLEARED.

That's not extremely surprising ... force-enabling an output I think
might kill the resolution detection, and 1024x768 is the default. Why

[Bug 41588] New: connected DVI output dies after suspend/resume occasionally.
disable hotplug polling while in suspend
Just like summary says, to reproduce just attach external monitor via DVI
(other inputs should cause same problem) suspend/resume.
On resume you see black/white stripes on internal screen (LVDS) and external
monitor is on standby.
If you then disconnect external monitor and suspend again, on resume often the
desktop's screen doesn't come back ether.
Happens with and without compiz, with and without pageflipping enabled.
However I found what triggers the problem. kernel driver doe...
