LVM + XFS + external log + snapshots
Hi all,
So I have an XFS file system within LVM which has an external log.
My mount option in FSTAB is;
/dev/vg_spock_data/lv_data /data xfs logdev=/dev/sdc1,nobarrier,logbufs=8,noatime,nodiratime 1 1
All is well no issues and very fast.
Now I'd like to snapshot this bad boy and then run rsnapshot to create a few days backup.
A snapshot volume is created w/o issue;
lvcreate -L250G -s -n datasnapshot /dev/vg_spock_data/...

Formatting a USB Drive
Hi All,
I have a Drobo, connected to a CentOS 6.4 box. The box sees it as /dev/sdg.
I want to format it ext3 (as they dont support ext4) but when I try I get:
# fdisk -u /dev/sdg
WARNING: GPT (GUID Partition Table) detected on '/dev/sdg'! The util fdisk
doesn't support GPT. Use GNU Parted.
WARNING: The size of this disk is 17.6 TB (17592186044416 bytes).

DO NOT USE Software Raid1 and Ext3
Conclusion:
DO NOT USE SOFTWARE RAID-1 WITH EXT3
I've started with this conclusion cause i am positive that raid-1 and ext3
are causing data corruption.
I've upgraded from 7.1 to 7.2 and from the first date i run into data
corruption problems @ least once per day (i was monitoring once per day
only) after 7 days we bought a brand new server cause the previous was very
old and i thought

how to get debugging output from dom0 kernel
...is goes along with having created a second logical volume on the
raid controller (still undergoing auto-sync) which has two LVM volumes
on it in a LVM volume group. One of the LVM volumes is made available
to a domU:
disk = ['phy:/dev/vg_guests/lv_jupiter,xvda,w', 'phy:/dev/vg_mydata/lv_DATA,xvdb,w']
It didn't crash before adding the second volume. I can't have this
server crashing all the time --- what can I do?
Is there a more recent kernel which might work better?

"Structure needs cleaning" error
Hi,
We have recently upgraded our gluster to 3.2.5 and have
encountered the following error. Gluster seems somehow
confused about one of the files it should be serving up,
specifically
/projects/philex/PE/2010/Oct18/arch07/BalbacFull_250_200_03Mar_3.png
If I go to that directory and simply do an ls *.png I get
ls: BalbacFull_250_200_03Mar_3.png: Structure needs cleaning
(along with a listing
