Customer questions
A few questions: 1. How does ZFS compare to Luster? 2. Is ZFS compatible with Veritas Netbackup Suite? 3. Does ZFS support bare metal restore (BMR)? Pointers welcome!! build and install lustre from source code -- warning on livcfs.ko for no modversions
I built and installed Lustre from source. When I installed built luster-modules- RPM, I got libcfs.ko from the kernel-2.6.18-prep has no modversions (the message is posted below), so it cannot be reused for kernel. Is there any procedure I need to do during the build? There is include/config/modversion.h under patched kernel, but the file does not have any contens and its size is 0. Thanks for

How to remove OST permanently?
All, I''ve added a new 2.2 TB OST to my cluster easily enough, but this new disk array is meant to replace several smaller OSTs that I used to have of which were only 120 GB, 500 GB, and 700 GB. Adding an OST is easy, but how do I REMOVE the small OSTs that I no longer want to be part of my cluster? Is there a command to tell luster to move all the file stripes off one of the nodes?

Luster clients getting evicted
on our cluster that has been running lustre for about 1 month. I have 1 MDT/MGS and 1 OSS with 2 OST''s. Our cluster uses all Gige and has about 608 nodes 1854 cores. We have allot of jobs that die, and/or go into high IO wait, strace shows processes stuck in fstat(). The big problem is (i think) I would like some feedback on it that of these 608 nodes 209 of them have in dmesg

Asterisk, AudioCodes, Caller ID
Hello all, I'm working on a little project right now and have ran into a snag. Was hoping someone would be kind enough to give me a few pointers to help me get past the current issue... I have an AudioCodes MediaPack MP-114 (2FXS and 2FXO... SIP firmware...) that I'm trying to get to play nice with Asterisk 1.4. I've got it to the point where the AudioCodes box picks up

Split brain
Hi, I am having a problem with a split-brain issue that does not seem to match up with documentation on how to solve it. gluster volume heal VMData2 info gives: Brick found2.ssd.org:/data/brick6/data /08aa5fc4-c9ba-4fcf-af57-72450b875d1a/images/d1164a9b-ba63-46c4-a9ec-76ea4a7a2c45/82a7027b-321c-4bd9-8afc-2a12cfa23bfc

cluster analysis: "error in vector("double", length): given vector size is too big {Fehler in vector("double", length) : angegebene Vektorgröße ist zu groß}
Dear R Specialists, when trying to cluster a data.frame with about 80.000 rows and 25 columns I get the above error message. I tried hclust (using dist), agnes (entering the data.frame directly) and pam (entering the data.frame directly). What I actually do not want to do is generate a random sample from the data. The machine I run R on is a Windows 2000 Server (Pentium 4) with 2 GB of

Best practice to stop the Gluster CLIENT process?
Hi all! What's the best way to stop the CLIENT process for Gluster? We have dual systems, where the Gluster servers also act as clients, so both, glusterd and glusterfsd are running on the system. Stopping the server app. works via "/etc/init.d/glusterd stop" but the client is stopped how? I need to unmount the filesystem from the server in order to do a fsck on the ext4 volume;

some notes about rails, apache, fastcgi and windows
hello. i''d like to share some feelings of mine after a couple of *weeks* intermittent attempts to have rails applications working on windows (XP) with fastcgi performances under apache (2.0). i''d say the software stack i''m using now will be fairly common as more and more new rails developers will join the bandwagon. what is stunning me is the fact that, even if

What NAS device(s) do you use? And why?
If you use any NAS (or a SAN) devices, what do you use? And I''m referring more to larger scale network storage than your home PC or home theater system. We''ve had very good experiences with our NetGear ReadyNAS devices but I''m in the market for something new. The NetGear''s aren''t the cheapest ones around but they do what it says on the box. A couple of questions
Hi, I''ve been looking at Btrfs and have a couple of naive questions that don''t seem to be answered on the wiki or in the articles I''ve read on the filesystem. First: discovering a file''s checksum value. Here''s the scenario: software is writing some data as a fresh file. This software happens to know (a priori) the checksum of this data; for
