...g to do a DNS resolution or something? The system isn't in our local DNS server, only NIS. And since I'm using aliases with the system, they aren't in either DNS or NIS. I would expect it to resolve via netbios, since it is showing up in the NN browser! ...thing shows up in NN. I understand that it can take upto 55 minutes in a worst case scenario for the master browser to update, but it's been 4 days. I rebooted the PC I'm testing with, I've restarted smbd several times. Does anyone have any ideas? Hi there everyone! I'm using Samba 2.0.5a-19990721 on a RedHat 6.0 machine with Linux kernel 2.2.12. My system generally works fine, however recently I've had some complaints about some files being corrupted. The latest and best-handled to enable a debugging happened at around the same time. I was very excited when I ran across the "UNIX password sync" directive in the smb.conf!!! THAT would be convenient and really add to the making the server seamless!! Unfortunately I haven't been able to get the unix and smbpasswords to sync from changing within win95. ...ar? Does it matter? Am I safer sticking with smbtar? I'm guessing that since smbtar is a wrapper around smbclient, that there might be some magic in the smbclient portion of it. Though, just doing a quick tar tvf of the tar.out file appears to work properly. Is there a way internal to a KVM VM to know which host it's running on? It could send a command via ssh to virsh on a host, and learn from that whether the host currently has it running. But is there something within the VM itself which will reveal this? Thanks, Whit

Just wondering if there is a way to get drive namings to change according to who's logged into the network. ie. 'bob' logs into windows networking and gets... E: 'bob' on server kiwi. Now if 'sue' logs into windows networking on the same pc she gets... E: 'bob' on server kiwi. But E: contains sue's stuff. So is there a way into making 'sue'
