Can someone change the AppDB Status Change colors
...;t help to communicate information at all. In fact, it actually hinders proper reading of the graph, The issue is that "Platinum", "Silver", and to a lesser extent, "Garbage" are almost the same color. Platinum and Silver are the worst offenders, being almost the same luminosity and a very light change in hue. (Platinum is a little more "blue"). The idea is that graphs should make it easier to read, not more of a challenge. Graphs often use a gradient of color to indicate "better-ness" and which colors are culturally dependent. Generically, A spectrum...

Finding different hues for a mosaic plot compatible with grayscale printing
...gative residuals with the hue/. Varying the chroma and the luminance only affect the distinctions between large and small and significant and non significant. But my positive and negative residuals are both large (absolutely) and significant, meaning that they will have the same chroma and luminosity, but different hues. I guess the key here is to find two separate hue values that appear substantially different *on a grayscale printer* at the same chroma and luminance. I have read through Zeileis et al. (2007, 2008) but can't quite find the answer there. I have also tried the Friend...

dealing with a messy dataset
dear R-users, I am facing a quite regular and basic problem when it comes to dealing with datasets, but I cannot find any satisfying answer so far. I have a messy dataset of galaxies like that : And XVIII 000214.5+450520 0.69 17 9 0.00 -8.7 26.8 6.44 6.78 < 6.65 -44 0.5 MESSIER031 0.6 1.54 PAndAS-03 000356.4+405319 0.10 17 0.00 -3.6 27.8 4.38

CMYK color space
dear R experts---I am struggling with the requirements to prepare my files for my printers. I am printing in 2/2 format, which means cyan and black for me, which they take from my color-separated pdf files. R comes into play, because it produces all the figures that are embedded in my book (pdflatex). now, TeX has no problems producing CMYK files. However, R produces RGB files (for

Selecting complementary colours
Dear r-helpers, I wonder whether, given the "#rrggbb" representation of a colour, there is a simple way to select the complementary colour, also expressed as a "#rrggbb" string. Any suggestions would be appreciated. John -------------------------------- John Fox, Professor Department of Sociology McMaster University Hamilton, Ontario Canada L8S 4M4 905-525-9140x23604
