Latest CentOS does not boot, Proliant ML330 G6
Hello all. I just upgraded to the latest and tried to reboot: kernel panic and dead as a brick. Luckily GRUB still works and booting the to the next option in boot menu succeeds. How can this be? This OS is assumed to be solid as a brick :) br. jarif -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... Recommendation for a Linux alternative to Centos - ATH9K disaster
...nt many hours Googling for his wifi adaptor Altheros AR928K which uses a driver known as ATH9K. Many others have had a similar problem. Kernel 2.6.27 apparently includes this driver but Centos 5.5 is 2.6.18. On my Sony Vaio netbook I abandoned XP and installed Centos 5.5. No wifi (yet XP had) but luckily for me I eventually discovered the Altheros AR8132 needed ATL1E which, for Centos 5.5, means a kernel modification. Luckily it is on Elrepo as kmod-atl1e. A quick Yum and I was connected. Many thanks to Elrepo. The netbook comes to life with Centos. Its now a really usable machine. XP on a netbook...

Incoming Calls Getting Crossed - Weird
...instead of going through the ivr or at some point during the IVR. One said, yeah i was talking to another patient and we had a convo. I have double checked the dialplan and the logs and everything looks ok. Is this a possible bug or can someone tell me what i might be missing? Its very odd but luckily fairly rare so far, i am worried it could get worse though. -Mike Mike240se This E-mail, including any attachments, may be intended solely for the personal and confidential use of the sender and recipient(s) named above. Beware - Yum 3.5 to 3.6 upgrade replaces named.conf
...checked the /var/named/ directory and saw all my hosts files. So looked like another smooth ride, well until today I noticed my domains dropped off the net. Too bad I did not check the bind gui or look at /etc/named.conf after the yum update since it was replaced with a generic version from 3.6. Luckily I copied /etc/named.conf-rpmsave to named.conf and I am back in business, well at least in 24 to 72 hours for the rest of the world :( __________________________________ Yahoo! CD Baby using FLAC to archive 40,000 CDs
Hey FLAC gang - Just thought you'd like to know CD Baby has switched to FLAC for archiving the 40,000 CDs we have in stock. Luckily HD space is down below $1/gig so we got a 6-terabyte RAID-5 box set up for about $7000. Got the FreeBSD boxes churning away night and day, ripping and archiving. I'll do a more formal press release for ya in a couple months as we're further along, but just wanted to let you guys know. Th...

x86_64 platform : addresses type
...u32 mods_count; u32 mods_addr; union { aout_symbol_table_t aout_sym; elf_section_header_table_t elf_sec; } u; u32 mmap_length; u32 mmap_addr; } multiboot_info_t However, on x86_64 using gcc, addresses as well as unsigned long are 64 bits long. It seems that luckily mmap_addr is below 2*32-1, making the u32 type acceptable so far (for instance in function __start_xen, where the memory map is turned into another structure) but what would it cost to change it into u64 ? After all, the multiboot specification (page 18) has ''unsigned long'' ins...

[LLVMdev] Linux-x86 Compatability
ISSUE: In Interpreter::getCurrentExecutablePath(), dladdr() is a Solarisism. Luckily, getCurrentExecutablePath isn't being currently used anywhere in lli. ACTION: Wrap the method contents with #ifdef __sun__ ... #else return ""; #endif. If this functionality is actually desired, it would be more portable to hack up main() to join getcwd() with basename(argv[0]) t...

Raid5 issues
So when I couldn't get the raid10 to work, I decided to do raid5. Everything installed and looked good. I left it overnight to rebuild the array, and when I came in this morning, everything was frozen. Upon reboot, it said that 2 of the 4 devices for the raid5 array failed. Luckily, I didn't have any data on it, but how do I know that the same thing won't happen when I have real data on it? I kind of feel that the problem might be that I'm using SATA drives, and they probably tried to self-correct and error and took too long, and the raid controller assumed th...

[OT maybe] netcafe firewall

No FUD intended on this, optimistic views are always highly welcomed :) Luckily denyhosts has no plans of selling itself to anyone so that''s one project I can safely use :) So, Open Source portscaner for CentOS... anyone... ? :) Thank you for your time and help, With respect, Alex

A suggestion to improve ifelse behaviour with vector yes/no arguments
Dear All, I luckily found the following feature (or problem) when tried to apply ifelse-function to an ordered data. > test <- c(TRUE, TRUE, TRUE, FALSE, FALSE, FALSE, FALSE) > ifelse(test, 0, 1:4) [1] 0 0 0 4 1 2 3 > It roots into the ifelse-syntax: ans[!test & !nas] <- rep(no, length.out = leng...

Icecast status-json.xsl improvements
...time is off, I'm assuming the server time is off by N amount of minutes (and I don't control that server), Shoutcast v2's http://127.0.0.1:8000/played?sid=1&type=json does not provide a date/reference clock, nor does Shoutcast v2 even provide a HTTP date header (what the hell?). Luckily I'm able to poke a different (non Shoutcast v2) served page on the same server and get the server date from there so I can't adjust all the times in the history to the correct UTC that the server hosting the script has). The server_name and server_description is included since those coul...

Small change to make dovecot pop3 uw-imap migration friendly
...day I've finished migration from uw-imap daemons to shiny and fast dovecot. With thanks of dovecot my mail server load average drops by factor of ten even with ancient unix mailboxes. ;-) So, the only thing I've discovered is what POP3 uidls are different than ones used in the uw-imap. Luckily, the difference are only in the format string used in uidl response. So, I've made the following change in the code --- dovecot-0.99.10.4.orig/src/pop3/commands.c 2003-05-28 15:17:15.000000000 +0400 +++ dovecot-0.99.10.4/src/pop3/commands.c 2004-05-27 14:06:48.000000000 +0400 @@ -374,7 +374,7...

[PATCH 2/2] core: Fix stack overflow when reloading config
...are a number of initialisation steps that need to be performed *every* time a config file is loaded. Reload ldlinux.c32 so that we can re-initialise the environment whenever a new config file is loaded. This involves unloading all the modules that have been loaded since ldlinux.c32. Luckily the list of loaded modules is sorted by load order, which means it's trivial to "pop" them from the front of the list. ---------------------- Celelibi

find weighted group mean
...96 0 1 0 [3,] -1.27799751 0.26276934 1 0 1 Suppose I want to compute a weighted mean of X[,1] by for each group, which is defined by unique vector (A,B,C) with weights are X[,2]. And then add a column for the weighted group mean. How can I do this ? My matrix is fairly large (few thousands) but, luckily, I have only a few factors (<10). Thanks a lot, Young. SelectionDAG::LegalizeTypes is very slow in 3.1 version

Unfortunately, it's not a choice for me now to upgrade it to 3.9. If anyone luckily to know what's the evolution in this area to improve the compilation time performance, pls kindly comments. thanks Xiaoyong -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... PSA: Potential lit workflow change
...transparent and "just work", but it breaks one workflow that people should be aware of. Problem: If you run lit by putting llvm-config in your path and then running <source-root>/utils/lit/lit.py <source-root>/<path-to-test-file> then this is not going to work anymore. Luckily, there's an easy fix: Solution: Run <output-tree>/bin/llvm-lit.py <source-root>/<path-to-test-file> Happy to answer any questions here or on the code review. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... logos and goodies
...ct, R could do so as well. (I have all the gear I need to make myself a tshirt w/ the logo, but not as high quality as cafepress does) The other thing I noticed is that the link to the R logos' directory, http://developer.r-project.org/Logo, is blocked to the general public. Luckily, if you know the name of the image files is "Rlogo-[1-6].png", you can still download the images. Any reason the /Logo directory itself couldn't be made read-accessible? Carl
