bladder1 dataset in survival library
Hello, In package survival should be a dataset bladder1. http://stat.ethz.ch/R-manual/R-devel/library/survival/html/bladder.html I can not open it (not found). Both bladder and bladder2 are there. Thanks, Petra

BTRFS warnings on the tons-of-symlinks operations
These warnings occur in the process of creating lots of symlinks before system hangs (well, this time I was luckier and system didn''t hang..) I checked: when system hanged, it was always the same offset in the same function. I failed to get more good traces. I send the best I got. After lots of attempts I passed the usual hanging step.. With lots of warnings I already mentioned.

...Lenovo is another big red flag - I mentioned elsewhere why). This basically means that this particular model is poorly designed (and/or manufactured), so it comes with defects or fails withing short period of time so customers are so outraged that they return it, or Lenovo prefers to get them "luckier" new sample of the same, and buff-up and sale the bad one as refurbished, with lower expectations of whoever buys it. Anyway, your reasoning will be of more value for you, as it will be your money that will be affected. Good luck! Valeri > > I'm open to suggestions from any/all o...

Calling CHRIS BARNET (PRI / E100P / ntl)
Chris you might know the answer to my HUUUUUUGE problem A few weeks ago you posted this message: "I have an ISDN PRI supplied by NTL (ex Diamond Cable, Nottingham) which is currently working happily with an SDX Index phone system. I have to replace this phone system shortly and I've been trying to get a * system working for some weeks now. I have configured the dial plan (which works)

Simple lme/lmer random effects questions
Hello, I have two very rudimentary questions regarding the random effects terms in the lme and lmer functions. I apologize if this also partly strays into a general statistics question, but I'm a bit new to this all. So hopefully it'll be a quick problem to sort out... Here is my experimental setup: I raised butterflies in 5 different testing chambers all set to different

Tabulation with ENTER key
Dear all, I think this can be interesting for others too. For a while I tried to solve that problem - how to tabulate with ENTER/RETURN key too and not only with TAB. You know the problem - you are entering a lot of numbers from numeric keypad but you need to go far left to press TAB. This prevents one-hand data entry and prohibits web apps to be used by accountants, for instance. Here is a

modestly priced laptop for C7
I'm looking to replace my (old, creaky) netbook (Acer Aspire One D255e, a screaming dual core 1.6 GHz Atom, and a whole 2 gigs of RAM) with something faster but not too large. Sometimes (usually) the netbook is painfully slow. Something like a hi-res 14 (or 15) inch screen (full HD), minimum of 4 gigs RAM, HD of a half terabyte or bigger. I'd like to not have to go over 600-700 dollars,

Windows XP Machines (well mostly the XP ones) hanging
Hello Folks, I will personally send $50(AU) of Pizza to anyone that solves this one :) We have a network comprising approx 30 Windows workstations all logging in to a samba machine running as a PDC. The main exported file system is an NFS mounted file system, but this was happening back when this was an xfs file system as well. ACL's are enabled. We are running Samba Version 2.2.8a. The

Asterisk 10/1.6.1 and Dahdi/Libpri compatilities in BRI /PtmP
Hi, After an upgrade, I discovered yesterday strange things I would like to share here. Basically, I'me comparing platforms: The first one is a 2.6.26 (Debian Lenny) platform, with Asterisk 1.6.1.18, Libpri 1.4.10.2, Dahdi revision 8853 (must be between 2.3 and 2.5, I think). The second one is a 2.6.32 (Debian Squeeze) platform, with Asterisk 10.5.1, Libpri 1.4.12, Dahdi 2.6.1. Both are

RE: CentOS Digest, Vol 6, Issue 3
...hey ran reliably and flawlessly (except for replacing the > battery on A5100). They have a lot of resilience to load. We've had load > averages of up to 300-350 on the machine and it didn't break a sweat. > I've had many other machine crumble to this heavy load. Then you're luckier than us... About 40% of our E4500s had centerplane or clockboard errors over the last year... :-( the system and io boards seem to be fine but the clock boards definitely don't age gracefully... But if you have working hardware, yep - they surely are stable... > Now only if they were more...

UNEXPECTED SOFT UPDATE INCONSISTENCY; RUN fsck MANUALLY

Ok, so I ran fsck manually (even with -y), but yet it refuses to clear/fix whatever to the questions posed as fsck runs. What does this all mean?
