Pass Arguments to R with an LSF submit
I'm trying to run R in batch mode on an LSF managed cluster. In simple settings, I can do it just fine. The trouble I'm having is when I try to pass arguments to the batch job. For example, bsub R CMD BATCH --args 1 3 commandfile.R & LSF doesn't like the &, and it doesn't run. I'm hoping one you can help me subm...

Embedded R Fails When Run on LSF Queue System
...had a quick question I was hoping someone might be able to answer, as my journey through the source code so far has not been very profitable. I have a command line program that embeds R, and the program works just fine when run from the command line. However, when I run the program as a job in the LSF cluster at my institute, the following error occurs: Fatal error: you must specify '--save', '--no-save' or '--vanilla' This is confusing becasue I believe I have set this by changing the startup parameters so that the no-save option is in use. I initialize R with the foll...

LDAP users issue
Hi Team, I have enabled LDAP authentication with webmail client and it works successfully. But I found an error with LDAP user's mail. Email is not loaded when I log with an LDAP user. Login phase is successful and mail box is the issue. I created a mail user without including LDAP and that user works fine. Issue comes only with LDAP users. *Anushka Bandara* Research Engineer Lanka Software

The following function will let you list only the functions present in a given environment (your workspace by default): > lsf function (pos=1) { a <- b <- ls(pos=pos) for (i in 1:length(a)) { b[i] <- mode(get(a[i])) } a[grep("function",b)] } > lsf() [1] "disc.qda" "edges" "ima.explore2" [4] "i...

interpolation of LSFs and bandwidth expansion
hi, thanks for answers to my previous qns. have some more of them. hope it's ok to ask questions on the basics of CELP here. let me know if it's not. 1) synthesized filter stability after interpolation of LSFs I read from some resources that if LSF representation of LPCs is used for interpolation, stability of the synthesis filter is guaranteed. from another source, i read that the stability of the interpolated LSF synthesis filter is satisfied only by preserving the intra-model interlacing theorem (t...

make check still fails with 1.7.0beta (3/27/2003)
Dear R-devel, I grabbed 1.7.0 beta from today. "make check" still fails at base-Ex.R. The last few lines of the output are: > lsf.str()#- how do the functions look like which I am using? Error in exists(nam <- nms[i], envir = envir, mode = mode) : F used instead of FALSE Execution halted Looks like the same problem as before, but at a different place. Mandrake Linux 9.0 with gcc. Using line spectral pairs for LPC quantization
...ecause LPC coefficients are very sensitive to quantization error. I don't know how much space the LPC coefficients occupy in the resulting FLAC file - if its not much, it probably doesn't matter. But if its a significant amount of data, it might be better to convert the LPC coefficients to LSF/LSP coefficients, and store those quantized. This should provide the same quality at a lower bit count, if I'm right. Here is a link that describes LSF/LPC coefficients: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Line_spectral_pairs ? Cu... ices reencoding problem
Hi, I'm having trouble getting ices 0.2.3 to reencode MPEG-2 LSF mp3s, the files are playing back around twice as fast as they are supposed to, ie the "chipmunk effect". I'm not encoding the originals but I've tried encoding them with lame to the same effect which causes me to believe the problem is with ices' decoding. The source files a...

autocorrelation and levinson-durbin
...ond is what is the motivation behind adding 0.003*Rxx(0) to error? 3) a more general question: i have not been able to find any reason why 10 lpcs are used. i suppose 10 lpcs are enough for prediction and using more coeffs would not have made too much difference. and 10 is even, good for lpc->lsf. had read somewhere "historically", during the analog era, this number is used. or maybe 10 is analagous to a perfect number! ;-) cheers, tk

Selectively Removing objects
Dear list members, Does anyone know how to use rm() to remove only variables but not declared functions from the environment ? I understand I could name all the functions with, let's say "f_something", make sure that all variables do not start with "f_" and then remove all BUT objects starting with "f_". However, I have already defined all the functions and it
