WINEPS insists on using LPT1:
I'm running Wine 20010305. I am using the WINEPS driver and trying to direct it to various printers on various ports. It seems to output to port LPT1 regardless of the port I specify in the registry and win.ini. Here is a simplified scenario, in which I define only one printer, on LPT2. Can any one tell me what is happening? Follow-up question: Am I limited to 9 printers, on LPT1-LPT9? -Lee Allen output of wine --debugmsg +psdrv (just one relevant line, I think): trace:psdrv:PSDRV_ExtDeviceMode16 (hwnd=0000, hDriver=0000, devOut=(nil), Device='Wine PostScript Driver'...

cups-1.3.7-32.el5_11.x86_64 may have a problem
...commands. It is interesting that the remote print servers appear to function normally during this time. The only way I have figured out to remedy the problem is the use the "cancel -u user" command on the Centos 5 server to get rid of the command on the Centos 5 server and to use cancel lpt2-xxxxx on the Centso 7 server to get rid of the command on the archive server. When I evaluate the logs, I am either blind to the problem or am not seeing much I can piece together. Both machines have all updates and are listed as : Gateway and Cups Print Server : CentOS release 5.11 (Final)...

Print Capture problem
Not a Samba issue per se, but I hope someone can help. I just rolled out a Samba 2.2.5 RH7.3 box for a client. He uses a DOS architectural package that only prints to LPT1 or LPT2. He has a locally attached laser printer on LPT1, a couple of network attached plotters that I want to use on LPT2. The client software is Win98 SE. I wrote a couple of batch files that went like this: net use lpt2 /delete net use lpt2 \\server\1050c and net use lpt2 /delete net use lpt2 \\serv...

print directly on another computer's LPT
...o i print directly to another computer's LPT port? printing via GDI is no problem. i have application that must print directly to LPT ports on several computers. on local printer, there's no problem, but i can't access LPT port on another computer. in windows, i could simply map it to LPT2, and use the LPT2 "net use LPT2: \\servername\printername" or in my application i could open the network name directly: handle = fopen("\\servername\printername"); fwrite( handle, buffer, buffersize ); fclose( handle ); is it possibly to do that under wine? or si...

Win2K can't print to a Samba Printer?
Hello, ** Please CC replies to ian@ichilton.co.uk as I am not subscribed ** I have a Brother laser printer connected to a linux box running Samba. It is working fine from Win98 workstations, but now I have Win2K on my laptop, I am unable to print. This is because the linux box obviously doesn't have the win2k driver so I tried to install it as a local printer and then change it to a network

Cannot get HP1055CM Color Plotter to work with "Point and Click"
G'day All, We are using Samba 3.0.6 as a PDC and print server. The OS is RHEL 3.0. I've gone thru the procedure detailed in "The Official Samba Howto..." book and the other HP and Lexmark LaserJet printers work properly using the postscript drivers. However, HP 1055CM Color Plotter works best with the HPGL/2 drivers if the drivers are installed on the client workstation but, do

does anyone use the enumports command for anything useful ?
...e this enum ports command altogether. Ports are a consemtic concept in Samba for the most port since the printer is really tied to the queue name. But before I think about this anymore is there anyone actually using enumports for something other than #!/bi/sh echo "LPT1:" echo "LPT2:" echo "LPT3:" ? cheers, jerry -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.0 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Thunderbird - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQFCxCmGIR7qMdg1EfYRAouQAJ9qqpBio3EVVh63t7eqXBjRXAfd+QCeMn3f hNN3eH40s9x3orSwoQeVQkw= =zxtL -----END PGP SIGNATU...

Printing W2K net use lpt
Hello, I've got a problem with printing on a Windows 2K box. Printing from that box to a samba server via the normal print mechanism works fine. The problem is when the person needs to print to a lpt port. The capture succeeds, but when the file is copied to lpt2 it never gets printed. There are other machines that can do the capture and copy to the lpt port but they are Win 9x. The files being copied are plot files generated by a cad program. I noticed in the How-To that using enumports might be needed to make using lpt ports work. It's not work...

Printing samba, cups and legacy 16 bit applications
hello everybody, I have come to a dead end. I have successfully configured cups and samba to print from windows with automated drivers download. It works perfectly, but for one little problem, most of the printing here in my company are reports printed by the ERP software, which has been developed by ouserlves some 12 years ago in (oohh sucks) Visual basic 3. The problem is: Every single

Printer Permissions Problem
...n the Properties of the printer when viewing \\DC\Printers and Faxes\PrinterName, Most of the tabs are disabled. I was able to install the drivers some time ago. But not any more. The more weird thing is that for some of the network printers, the Ports tab of the Properties Pages lists "LPT1,LPT2,LPT3,COM1,...COM4,FILE" and for the others it lists "Samba Printer Port". Infact, the ones for which the drivers are already installed on the network (which I did a week ago) show the "LPT1,..." list while those printers which I just added to the printcap file by hand, disp...
