chan_h323 + Ericsson Webswitch 100
...thing works fine, while the webswitch just rings. I belive chan_h323 is picking the wrong port to talk at the webswitch on, however I'm not sure, nor am I sure how to fix it. Any clues/hints? A tcpdump is attached to show the session. Printing with lpr or lprng without two copy
Hello! We're using samba to manage our HP LaserJet 8000, which is a very fast and high capable printer. So we need the best performance, when we printing. The problem is when samba receive a file for printing it's copying the file to a tmp directory, and after that the lpr is copying this file out to its own spool directory. For example, where a 300M printing job is arriving from a windows it'll go to the /tmp. And after the full network job finished samba run the print command (the recommended lpr -P%p %s) and this command copy this file once too. I probed the...

After almost every reboot, Samba printing is DOA under Solaris 2.6...
...see if anyone else sees this problem with Samba 1.9.18p4 (under Solaris 2.6). It appears that after some reboots of Solaris, Samba printing is partly dead. What I see in the logs are below, and what happens is that the file to be printed is spooled to /var/spool/samba, like always, but when the lpr command is issued it croaks. I've been able to play with it and sometimes find that once I get it working, it is good until the next reboot (of Solaris). Now, the return status is 256, which really doesn't tell me anything as the man page for the Solaris lpr command states : EXIT STATUS...

LPR to windows lpd question
Hi All, I am trying to print from a CentOS 5.3 server to a windows LPD service. After enabling the LPD service on Windows and creating a LPR port to a particular printer when I execute the following command on CentOS server I do not come out. lpr -H winprint:515 -P printer1 file.txt The above command does not exit. Do I need to configure anything on the server to be able to use lpr as a client ? Ultimately I want to use the above comm...

roaming profiles ok, but what about the printers?
Hi there, We have a little intranetwork with Samba 3.0.x as PDC. There are 20 Win2k-clients in several rooms and 18 users roaming from one machine to another (according to their tasks). So any user has a roaming profile. This runs almost perfect (some minor problems are still there, but the the advantages are overwelming). But there is one thing, I can't understand. Why does Win2k saves

Printing via Cups uses lpr ??
...nstalled, and I can print from notepad and some other applications, but not what I expected. All I get is a printout that looks like this: %!PS-Adobe-3.0 %%Creator: Wine PostScript Driver %%Title: Whatever And dozens of blank pages ... Looks like wine uses lpr for printing while it should use cups instead. Any ideas why ? I tried to install apsfilter, but couldn't get it to work because there is no driver for my HP PSC1510 (at least I couldn't find one). Thanks for your help Chris

Printing from apps as a regular user...
...ions. Not too long ago I created a "general" user account which is automatically logged in after a few seconds for others to have (limited) access to the system. Mostly everything works (ie. CD/DVD writing, sound, floppy access, etc.) But when it comes to printing, only a specific "lpr" at the command prompt does the job. I've tried printing from mozilla, ggv and firefox without success. The funny thing is that an app such as gedit does print. (I'm guessing it's because gedit uses some sort of a2ps -> lpr combination). I have an Epson Stylus C82 connected...

lpr / lpd in raw mode
....1 / NT uses the printer driver you selected there the same way, as if you would print directly to the parallel port, but insted if sending the data to the parallel port, it is send over the network to your samba server. 2) Samba recieves the data, and stores it in a file on your server. 3) Then, lpr ist called with the file the data was stored in as a parameter (you can change the command line for calling lpr in your smb.conf). Normally, if you call lpr, the data is sent through a "magic" filter (like apsfilter). This filter recognizes the type of data you sent, and converts it so t...

lpr printing using samba
Hello, I have samba set up on a solaris 8 box. I set up a printer using an lpr port. When I send a job from a client through the queue on the samba box to the printer, the job shows up on the printer queue with the job name changed to a generic name such as smb20***. Does any one know why this is happening. Is there a configuration file that needs to be edited to allow the jo...

LPR or LPRng or CUPS
I'm converting my NT 4.0 Print Servers to Samba Print Servers. Which printing system should I be using? LPR, LPRng or CUPS. I would love to have some feedback on the advantages and disadvantages or what the Samba Team recommends as a standard for working wih Samba. In case you need it, my system is SuSE 7 kernel 2.2.16 running under VM on s/390. Thanks, Josh Konkol, CNE MCSE Senior Network Analys...
