Solved: Samba 3 w/ADS on Slackware
...e instructions are based on Slackware 9.1 but should be
generic enough to work on just about any platform.
A great many thanks are in order for John Terpstra for his invaluable
assistance in getting this all working. I really doubt I could have done
this without his assistance.

Ah, I see; the translation-unit that does the optimisation needs to
have them as a definition (i.e. "= {0}") rather

Samba 3 - ads server option doesn't work
...ministrator
Guest
IWAM_DOMAIN
IUSR_DOMAIN
krbtgt
root@raid:/usr/local/samba/bin#
With this problem, nobody on the network can use any resources on the samba
server.
Anyone have any ideas on what I messed up in configuring the samba server?
System: Slackware 9.0 kernel 2.4.21

Weird problem with ADS support - Samba 3.0.1 - win2k3
....
Before anyone asks, yes, I do have "client use spnego" set to yes in the
smb.conf file... I have also tried using both the default winbind separator
"\" as well as "+" - no difference.
Anyone have any hints on where I should look for this one????

Samba 3 still doesn't work - build errors (details)
...-enable-null --disable-bdb
Samba:
./configure --prefix=/usr --sysconfdir=/etc/samba
--with-privatedir=/etc/samba/p
rivate --with-ldap --with-ads --with-smbmount --without-sys-quotas
Kerberos was build first, then OpenLDAP, then Samba.
What am I doing wrong here? HELP!!

Samba 3 doesn't compile - the saga continues...
...791: undefined reference to `ap_fnmatch'
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make: *** [bin/smbd] Error 1
Yes, I know the warning about mktemp is from MIT-krb5. I'm not concerned about
that. It's the Samba generated warnings and errors that have me concerned.

Q: respecting .ssh/id_rsa
...t.log| audit2allow -m ssh
# Will let you see what modules it will create.
grep ssh /var/log/audit/audit.log| audit2allow -M ssh
# Creates the modules
semodule -I ssh.pp
sshd is the server; ssh is the client.

Samba 3: is LDAP required?
...d this question before and the answer didn't seem that clear. Let's
try again - shall we?
Yes or no - is OpenLDAP required to be on the SAMBA 3.0 server in order for
Active Directory support to work? Active Directory support == "security =
ads".
Thanks

release/update question
hi,
since i don't use centos very heavily i'm not too familiar with the
centos/rhel release/update process (and i didn't do much research on this):
is it normal behavior that through the use of "yum update" systems are
forced to follow the point releases of a major release (5.0 -> 5.1 ->
5.2, etc)? is there a way and would it make sense to stay within one
particular
