So, Louis - I'm quite interested in using your repo for Samba support on 18.04. You note there's some detail on it on the github site - but I don't seem to find it. Also - while I know it's all just best intentions etc - is this something you intend to do for a while? [I'd be glad to toss some $$$ your way to help, if that's helpful. ...up to date. I can't justify "paid" XOA for any of my clients, except for perhaps one - and even then it's a big stretch. XOA community is a great alternative for those smaller cases. Hai, @Rowland. Yes yes, you did say you hate systemd. :-) I had a hard(er)time on this one also but i got passed it. ;-) But you and everybody else on the list, please review this setup. And a very big thank you Rowland for the start of it. This should be a good base to start with as howto for ubuntu 18.04 systemd based. So, I'm generally running my DC's in VM's on Xen [XCP-NG]. And I'm considering recovery from different disaster situations - say a crashed/corrupt DC. Or hardware failure. So, I setup Samba on Ubuntu 18.04, using the packaged Samba version. [Thanks Rowland/Louis et al.] I'm doing some testing/tinkering using FreeNAS as a share, using the AD as the authentication back-end.
