Sound config
Hi All, I have been wrestling with this problem for months now and at my wits end. The sound is always very low and if I try to bring the sound louder by using the sound references icon on the top panel, the sound is choppy with lots of static. Output of lspci for the sound device is as follows: 01:00.1 Audio device: NVIDIA Corporation GF108 High Definition Audio Controller (rev a1) Please, could someone help me out to get this irritating pr...

RX gain TX gain
I have an X100p card....and it is hard to hear the person on the other end. Should I mess with these values? I have heard both yes and no to this question in the past. If yes, how much louder should I make them? Thanks, MIchael

Voicemail plays back at very low volume - how to make it louder?
Hello, I've just set up Asterisk with a TDM400P (specifically, a 'TDM22B bundle' - 2 FXS and 2 FXO, although I'm only using one of each interface at the moment, in case that's relevant) The problem I'm getting is that when I listen to a voicemail message, the recorded message is played back at extremely low volume. All the supporting prompts are at the correct volume,

Alarm clock
...k that either has a really loud beeper or plays the radio, and i'm tired of all the radio stations around here =) one feature i liked on the old alarm clock i had was it had a fade-in time that you could set to fade in for x seconds, that way it didn't blast you awake, it faded in, getting louder and louder until you wake up and either listen or turn it off, or hit snooze. thank you! Problems with gain
Hello. I have a problem here with replay gain. I use it to be able to hear all my music without any difference in volume. But it seems that all players I use ignore the gain value stored in my flac files. All flacs are louder than the gained mp3s I have. $ metaflac --show-tag=REPLAYGAIN_ALBUM_GAIN <some>.flac REPLAYGAIN_ALBUM_GAIN=-9.96 dB $ metaflac --show-tag=REPLAYGAIN_TRACK_GAIN <some>.flac REPLAYGAIN_TRACK_GAIN=-9.96 dB The flacs are always louder played as the mp3s and this happens with all players I...

...ate, say, 20k SIP ATAs. Does anyone know how? This should of course be as close as possible to 'reality', meaning n% calls per client and the usual REGISTER/OPTION traffic. thanks Best regards Roy Sigurd Karlsbakk roy@karlsbakk.net --- In space, loud sounds, like explosions, are even louder because there is no air to get in the way.

Zap channels ringing too loudly
Hi All I've got an asterisk system, using a couple of Xorcom Astribanks to provide FXS ports. (I'm using the zaptel 1.2 branch, if that matters) I've noticed that the ringing volume is a lot louder than on our old phone system, and people are starting to complain it's too loud. (This is the noise the phone makes when it rings, not the noise in your handset when you ring someone else) Having had a look through the code, I think that Asterisk passes the responsibility for ringing the...

Overload Point for OPUS
Hello, Can you please tell me what the overload point is for OPUS in dBm0 or dBV? As an example, the G.711 A law codec has an overload point of +3.14 dBm0 across a 600 ohm circuit. In ITU-T G.100.1 section 5.8 you can read more about the relationship between dBm0 and dBov. In that same section you can see that the G.711 A law, u law, and G.722 codec overload points are also defined.

Really, really loud ringers
...phones set up in some really noisy environments - our mine hoists - and they tend to drown out the ringers. I'm using Clarity WR100s now. They're analog devices, attached to Linksys PAP2T ATAs as part of a call group to get a loud (advertised as 95dB) ring out there, but it still could be louder. Maybe a light-up option would be better. The old phone system here had some huge loudspeakers that someone had wired right into the speakers of the old digital phones. I haven't figured out yet if they need a different voltage, or even if they still work; they were not responding when I rep...

Frozen upper spectrum in WB VBR CNG
...little while, and the bitrate drops to very low, sometimes the high half of the spectrum becomes frozen with a looping sound. The bottom half of the spectrum is always ok. (I have a linear spectral analysis view that makes it very easy to see this behavior.) The frozen sound is usually much louder than the background noise and sounds like a strange buzzing. It seems like it could be a frame from recent speech activity. Occasionally (like every few seconds) the sound will change to something different, but still frozen. As soon as the speaker starts speaking again, the problem goes aw...

SPEEX AEC makes voice volume very small.
I have tried both linear and non-linear (residual echo) parts of SPEEX AEC on MS Windows platform. Great job. Most echo can be cancelled. However, the voice volume becomes too small. Does any one have suggestions that makes voice volume louder but echo still can be cancelled? Thanks! -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... PSTN calls are quiet
...th local on Asterisk and over a SIP gateway, however some people who call on the PSTN line say we are very queit and vice versa, can the volume be turned up on the PSTN line? The volume buttons on the VoIP phones only turns up the others voice, so this is a fix for us, but how do I make our voices louder for the people on the PSTN line? Thanks. Paul.

"Low" beep on voicemail
We've had a few people complain that the "beep" before leaving a voicemail is not loud enough and too short. Does anybody have a recorded beep that they can share, that is a little louder and a little longer? We've had this box in production for 2+ years, so I hate to mess with the gain on the PRI or anything like that because everything else works fine. I know nothing about recording sounds, and I am sure I could spend a few hours and come up with a suitable version, but...

How to adjust codec voice detection? Changin RxGain does not help me...
Hi, Problem: When talking to someone (from pstn) and this person is not talking loud, the voice is cut by Asterisk. I tried increase RxGain but it changed nothing (was talking louder but voice still cut.) I use XLite as soft phone. I think this is probably a codec setting... but how do I check that on server side? I just don't know what to do. All works fine (asteriskathome) but I always have problems about the sound being not enought loud and being cut (as if it was voic...

speex 1.2beta1 encoding/decoding clicking noise on WM2003
I am running speex 1.2beta1 on WM2003 using FIXED_POINT option, I got big clicking noise during encoding or decoding randomly, I got more noise if I spoke louder or made the MIC sensitivity higher, for example, when I encode the wav file to spx file, the original saved wav file does not have such noise, the noise is added only after it's converted to spx format. The floating point version of libspeex library does not give me such noise(but runs slow of...

Changing ring cadence on FXS lines
...new phone system, and the customer has a few POTS phones in areas where they don't have data network services, so we're using the FXS lines to provide dialtone at those outbuildings. The old phone system would ring those phones with a short ring-short ring-pause cadence, which "sounds louder" to the users than Asterisk's default long ring-pause cadence. I tried setting a cadence line in chan_dahdi.conf and restarting Asterisk, and typing "dahdi show cadences" in the CLI after the restart showed my custom cadence, but the phones were still ringing long ring-pause. C...

'getent passwd' will only display local users, but, 'getent passwd rowland' displays this: rowland:*:10000:10000:Rowland Penny:/home/rowland:/bin/bash I repeat (louder this time): NO ONE NEEDS THE 'WINBIND ENUM' LINES IN SMB.CONF Rowland

The volume of the sidetone can be turned down using the volume button but it also control the volume of the voice call. As the sidetone is louder than the conversation it is getting rather distracting. Can the sidetone be calibrated or adjusted?
