AIX libjpeg still looms
Simon,
Did you get a chance to review your AIX configuration? I'd be
curious to know the differences with my own as while I have R installed,
I still get the error related to libjpeg.a.
Error in get(getOption("device"))() : X11 module cannot be loaded
In addition: Warning message:
unable to load shared library '/usr/local/R/lib/R/modules/R_X11.so':

in to a problem I seem unable to fix. I'm trying to take audio from a microphone

speexdec works fine.

That is a lot of file descriptors to keep open. It's well above my system's default hard and soft limit, iirc.
I'll try to look at it next week. Deadlines looming!

App behaves differently on Apache and Webrick
When running on the Webrick server (script/server), my app works fine.
When running on Apache 2.0.52, I get the dreaded ''unitialized constant
Merge'' error. Merge is the name of my model, the controller is
MergesController.
The deadline looms, any help appreciated!
Thanks!

XP slow to print to Samba 3.0 alpha21 server
Hi all,
As WinXP begins to loom larger in our environment, we're seeing a
consistent pattern that XP machines (mostly XP Professional, possibly
others) take an excessively long time to access shared printers: I'm
told that it takes up to 5 minutes to initially install the printer on
the local machine, and it typically takes around 45 seconds to deliver
print jobs to the queue.
The print

Is this a new policy? I note that there are still videos and slides

Possible to split message store location?
We have a few dovecot servers all pointing to the same mail location (an NFS
mount on a NAS drive).
This could lead to a possible bottleneck eventually and we were wondering if
it's possible to have dovecot
direct x number of users to one message store location while others get
their mail on a different mount?

EL 6 rollout strategies? (Scientific Linux)
...ed by the CentOS community on their
experiences using Scientific Linux?
I'm a long-time Centos user, and am basically happy with CentOS. I understand
there are delays getting EL 6 out. We have been long anxious to roll out EL 6
as soon as it's ready, but our time window for rollout is looming and we will
need to act. (for business reasons, we need to rollout over summer, before Aug
1, we need to start regression testing now!)
I was once a WhiteBox Enterprise Linux user and switched to CentOS 4 without
issue, and am assuming that I might need to do something similar if we decide
to...

statistical advice
Hello,
I am a researcher in sleep and circadian rhythms who is having much trouble
deciding on proper statistical analyses. Before I state my question, I
provide a brief synopsis of the looming problem; I am interested in activity
bout distributions across a 24 hr day. In addition to looking at the number
of activity bouts across the day, I am also interested in the duration of
each activity bout. My current method of analyzing numbers and durations of
activity bouts involves; 1) document...

[LLVMdev] A simpler method to reject undefined encodings

In general I like the idea of an instruction-validation method. I
think it could also potentially solve the SoftFail/UNPREDICTABLE
issues that are looming (and partially resolved for decoding at
present).
However, I think that to cope with the other issues the scope of the
method should (at least potentially) be wider than just disassembly.
For example we will eventually want to reject some load instructions
based on complex operand constraints (e.g...

Help for R on Windows for non-Win-enabled!
Hi Folks,
I need help with a query about R on Windows, specifically
about graphics devices.
I'm advising someone remotely (so it's all by email) who
is running R on Windows, while I am not (Linux only).
Things have reached the stage where saving graphics plots
as Windows metafiles is looming.
I've been told that the result of "?device" in Windows is
as follows (which is different from what I get on Linux,
which does not mention anything Windowsy):
Description
The following graphics devices are currently available:
windows The graphics driver for Windows (on scre...

noobie activerecord find query
In my webapp a todolist has many todo items. I am trying to display
lists that are completed. By incomplete I mean that all the items in
that list are done (booolean = true). I hope to have a list of active
lists and complete lists on one page.
I''m no ruby expert by any means so I think I have to ''pipe'' some results
into another query??
Can you help please?

Can we trust RedHAt encryption tools?
Recently I have been deeply troubled by evidence revealing the degree to which
U.S. based corporations (well actually all resident in any of the so-called
5-eyes countries) appear to have rolled over and assumed the position with
respect to NSA inspired pressure to cripple public key encryption and
facilitate intrusions into their software products. This has engendered in me
a significant degree

[LLVMdev] A simpler method to reject undefined encodings
Hello.
Sometimes the constraints imposed on an instruction's encoding are too
complex to be described in tablegen alone. In such cases a custom decoder
method is implemented. This makes sense when the decoding itself is very
complex, but it is wasteful to do it only when checking
additional constraints. This is because:
1. a custom decoder method has to decode operands, set opcodes, etc. -

retransfer fail of large files with inplace and broken pipe
Hi,
i have to tranfer large files each 5-100 GB (mo-fri) over dsl line.
unfortunately dsl lines are often not very stable and i got a broken pipe error.
(dsl lines are getting a new ip if they are broken or at least after a
reconnect every 24 hours)
i had a script which detect the rsync error and restart the transmission.
this means that if a file has transfered e.g. 80 % i start again from
