File Locking under Windows - a solution ?
...tical filesystems.
There is an option to bring down each server, update the relevant
directories, and bring the server back up: but this is highly
undesirable. Updates are daily at least, and sometimes may occur
half-a-dozen times a day.

How to group data by day
...having a hard time grouping my data by day.
The data are in this format:
id; words
2005-07-07T09:59:56Z; 35
2005-07-07T10:01:39Z; 13
2005-07-08T10:02:22Z; 1
2005-07-09T10:03:16Z; 23
2005-07-10T10:04:23Z; 39
2005-07-10T10:04:39Z; 15
I've transformed the date strings in dates with the function:
london$id <- transform(london$id, as.Date(london$id, format="%Y-%m-%d%T%H:%M:%S%Z"))
and it seems to work.
Now I would like to add a new "day" variable to group data by day, like this:
id; words; day
2005-07-07T09:59:56Z; 35; 1
2005-07-07T10:01:39Z; 13; 1

Errata: dovecot + ldap + virtual mailbox: building mail location path
...enticating the users correctly with LDAP,
but have problems with referencing the correct mail location directory.
I manage several domains. The mailboxes are stored under separate
directories for each domain:
/mail/vmail/domains/writers.com/William.Shakespeare/
/mail/vmail/domains/writers.com/Jack.London/
/mail/vmail/domains/painters.com/Pablo.Picasso/
/mail/vmail/domains/painters.com/Vincent.VanGogh/
Now, I supposed I could build the path by setting the common part of the
paths as mail_location into dovecot.conf:
mail_location = maildir:/mail/vmail/domains/%h

LibreOffice Calc was the first choice so I directly pressed Enter to
open it. I always use this method to open any app I need, and I won't
have to touch the mouse.
After this call, I need to schedule a meeting with a partner in London
so I pressed the start key and typed in "london". Tracker showed the
current time and I could press enter to see the weather in London.
That's just what happened this morning.

time zone conversion
Hello,
I'm trying to convert times in the EST/EDT (New York) format to times in
the GMT/BST (London) and UTC+9 format (Tokyo). That is, if I know what
time it is in New York, what is local time in London and Tokyo?
Ex:
Here's the conversion from New York EST/EDT time to London's GMT/BST
time zone for three days in 2007. Note that the US and London change to

London meetup?
Following Luke''s very successful Puppet talk at GLLUG in London, which
was so over-subscribed there were people queueing outside and pressing
their little faces up against the glass, I wonder if the market will
bear a London Puppet meet?
If there are more than two or three people interested it might be worth
arranging something, perhaps a pub session where we...

mapping with username: "user@domain" failed
Hi All,
When trying to map my SAMBA share from WinXP, it prompted me for name
and password but it failed when I used name@domain.com
However, using "domain\name" worked.
Any idea why my SAMBA server didn't accept this name style name@domain
?
Assume: Realm (AD domain): domain.com
Pre-windows2000: domain
Username: name
Samba server: 3.0.7 (soon will switch to latest)
