Problem with netlogon\logon.bat not mapping all drives
Hi all, I was wondering if anyone could help me, I have searched for some reason but cannot find any. After migrating from a previous samba-3.0.10 (I think) PDC server to a newer samba-3.0.23c server on Centos5, I have the strange problem that my XP clients no longer map all the drives listed in the logon.bat during logon, however if I run logon.bat manually after I'm logged in, all

Windows client domain member getting incorrect value for LOGONSERVER
Greetings, We migrated to new hardware our very first Samba PDC we built back in 2004 this past weekend. Now that Samba PDC is on its third set of hardware since being built. Bravo Samba team for all the hard work you do so our lives may be vastly simplified! The last server started out being loaded with Ubuntu 9.04, and we had upgraded it all the way to Ubuntu 16.04. Now this third set of

%LOGONSERVER% variable in netlogon/Default User folder redirection
Hi, (This is taken form here : http://samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-Guide/happy.html#redirfold ) I'm using folder redirection so I have a NTUSER.DAT file in the "netlogon" directory on the logon server (the primary domain controler), which I edited with regedit to set up some folders so that they point to the logon server by using the %LOGONSERVER% variable, and it seems it

local copy microsoft/credentials directory profile redirection
hello, i've set up a domain controller to replace a production server. both servers use profile redirection for all user environment directories. my problem is that when logging onto the new domain and server, windows will create in the %userprofile% local directory an Application Directory containing Microsoft/Credentials/*SID*, although a copy exists on the server. this directory is used

Windows client domain member getting incorrect value for LOGONSERVER
Greetings again, Michael Lueck wrote: > > Question about a hard spot we encountered... one Windows machine joined to the domain is insisting on setting its LOGONSERVER to its own hostname rather than the PDC it logs into. See example: Seems the root of the difficulty is that the Windows clients are only partially joined to the new server PDC. Plugging them into the former PDC server

Force logonserver in samba4
Hi everybody. We have a samba4 domain deployed across serveral countries. Some of them (overseas) have a poor VPN connection with mainland. Since Samba4 does not support (yet) subtrees, we have deployed a DC in each location for domain validation. However users in mainland logon randomly at overseas location and sometimes this is a problem due to low bandwidth available. Is there any way to

Samba4: variables in profilePath
Hi, I have a domain with several Samba4 servers installed in different locations. I need to use roaming profile but the only way that I get them working is using fixed profile path. I need to use variables, because sometimes users move from one location to another. I've tried with: %LOGONSERVER%/profiles/user //%LOGONSERVER%/profiles/user %SERVERNAME%/profiles/user

GPO redirected folders reg path issue
We are not much off. But you have mixed "samba/window" and "windows/windows" settings. Samba/windows \\%logonserver%\home\%username%\desktop Windows/windows \\hostname.fqdn.tld\users\%username%\desktop Guess, which one i use. ;-) Now, do get where this is coming from. So use this (add CNAME for you member server ), Note, you MUST setup PTR records.

Renaming a joined windows workstation
Hi all. I'm experiencing a little problem when I rename an already joined windows machine. The rename operation is done in the traditional way "Computer properties> advanced settings> Computer name> change" in a windows 7 Machine. The rename itself finishes successful, but when I check the computer name in the ADUC, the old name is still displayed. Checking the object

GPO redirected folders reg path issue
Hi all, I have an issue at multiple sites that has been plaguing me for a while. My goto setup for AD w/windows desktops is to employ roaming profiles with redirected folders and a few mapped drives; all via GPO. And that's pretty much it. 3 GPOs linked to the entire domain with authenticated users as security filter. The file servers are a domain member and serve both the file shares and

PDC & file server on same machine?
How much of a resource hog is a PDC? My understanding is that authentication is done vs a BDC if available. I configured my new file server as the domain PDC because I figured it would already have to run samba. I have two other machines configured as BDCs to serve as logon servers. I'm looking for opinions on whether I'm asking for performance problems by making my file server the
