How to create users accounts with already encrypted passwords ?
Hi, i need to create users accounts into Samba with already encrypted passwords from a file. I use tdbsam backend and Samba 3.0.24 (Debian Etch) The file format is quite easy : login1|Unix_passwd|Lanman Password Hash|NT Password Hash First, i create the unix users with their already encrypted password : useradd -p Unix_passwd login1. Fine. But can i do the same thing with smbpasswd or pdbedit ? I haven't found anything about this. How can i do ? Thanks, C.

VNC question
We have run into the infamous black screen problem with tigervnc under CentOS7, which prompted me to look into how vnc is configured here. https://access.redhat.com/solutions/966063 Am I reading this correctly - root needs to set up a systemd vnc service for every user and display individually? Compared to e.g. CentOS before 7, or indeed any other Linux/Unix system where vnc is completely under

I tried to create a new user with adduser but got the same problem. Why on CentOS a normal user can shutdown the system without root privileges? I think that on any server normal user s...

Centos User Privileges.
Hi list, I've installed C 7.1.1503 and I've noticed that simple user can run from bash shutdown -h now/reboot without getting special permission (sudo, su). The machine is a VM without GUI (tested also on physical machine). From reddit I've got a suggestion: removing/comment out "-session optional pam_systemd.so" in /etc/pam.d/system-auth the problem is solved. This is a

Disable hybernate/suspend in CentOS 7
Dear Experts, Could someone point me in the right direction: how can I disable hybernate/suspend in CentOS 7? I get workstations for graduate students with decent amount of RAM (32 GB), and for machines with large RAM I either do not have swap at all of have some small (4 GB) swap. As I remember from older manuals, one has to have at least twice amount of swap compared to physical RAM for
