Issue with LVM and iSCSI lun
Hi all,
Imagine the following situation, you have :
- one ISCSI storage server providing : lun0 and lun1
- the lun0 and lun1 contains a standard installation of Fedora : VM1 and VM2
- the standards installations define two VG VolGroup00 ...
We didn't define LogicalVolume on the node and we attached directly the iSCSI
lun to the VM without making partition or LV in Ovirt.
On the node that run VM1 and VM2 you have lun0 and lun1 seen as /dev/sda and
/dev/sdb, but when you run vgscan it hangs, because you have conflict and the
local LVM try to manage "virtua...

network raid file system/server
hi,
we've a few 10-20 server in a lan each has 4-8 hdd. we'd like to create
one big file server on these server hard disks and we'd like to create
it in a redundant way ie:
- if one (or more) of the hdd or server fails the whole filesystem still
usable and consistent.
- any server in this farm can see the same storage/filesystem.
it's someting a big network raid5-6... storage where

LiveCD System recovery - Mounting LVM?
Hi,
I am trying to recover data from my old system which had LVM. The disk had
two partitions - /dev/sda1 (boot, Linux) and /dev/sda2 (Linux LVM). I had
taken a backup of both partitions using dd.
Now I am booting of CentOS live cd for system restore. I recreated
partitions like previous system using fdisk and then used dd to dump all the
data onto it. I would like to mount sda2 as LVM, but I

Slow concurrent actions on the same LVM logical volume
Hi 2 all !
I have problems with concurrent filesystem actions on a ocfs2
filesystem which is mounted by 2 nodes. OS=RH5ES and OCFS2=1.2.6
F.e.: If I have a LV called testlv which is mounted on /mnt on both
servers and I do a "dd if=/dev/zero of=/mnt/test.a bs=1024
count=1000000" on server 1 and do at the same time a du -hs
/mnt/test.a it takes about 5 seconds for du -hs to execute:

Trying to install windows as guest
Hello everyone,
I am trying to install windows xp as a guest OS. It runs through the
installer just fine, but every time I reboot, it keeps booting back to
the installer.
Here is my config:

kernel="/usr/lib/xen/boot/hvmloader"
builder="hvm"
memory=512
device_model=''/usr/lib/xen/bin/qemu-dm''

How to Backup and Restore MBR within Logical Volumes?
Hi All,
I have several Xen virtual machines within logical volumes using LVM2. I did
not use disk images for performance reasons.
Conventionally, if I want to clone my virtual machines, I have to dd the LV
to an image file. But this consumes a lot of time and harddisk space.
So, instead of doing that, I want to use losetup and kpartx with my logical
volumes, which contain operating systems of
