Fwd: Newbie here. Tips on setting up 100 phones wanted.
So in order to answer the background and backbone questions here is the system as it is. I hope this isn't too much for the list but I'll post it in response to a few inquiries. The current system is quite interesting. We have an office in a town that is about 50 miles from the ski area. The ski area is powered 100% of of generators and the telephone access and internet access goes from

FOSDEM: Lodging and presentations
Hi all, Since it looks like I''ll be attending FOSDEM, I now need to find some lodging, and if possible I''d like to line up a presentation or four. Someone in the community offered to let me crash with them if I came to the conference (someone with the nick of ''robk'' on IRC, I think), so I''d like to take that person up on it if possible. Othe...

Manager Originate without phone off hook?
I'm trying to keep the DND status of my Snom phones and the astdb in line but I'm stuck on integrating my gui DND button which talks to * using the manager interface (actually it uses Astmanproxy as the gui host is on a different network to asterisk and can't see the Snom's across the network). All's working fine in my Dialplan; when someone dials the code for DND-on or

Disabled adaptor causing fatal error
On by eth1 does nothing, I tried configuring Shorewall and just ignoring it, but Shorewall errors with "Unable to determine the routes through interface ''eth1''", searching high low seems to reveal I am either the first person ever to see this error, or it is so trivially overcome that it is not documented or commented upon anywhere on the internet. I tried all sorts

Winbind idmap & Active Directory
Hey all, I'm running the latest and greatest CentOS4 here, along with Samba and Winbind coupled to an Active Directory server. It's all working smoothly, bar one little bit, the idmap gui and uid directives. It appears to be ignoring them completely. I've pasted the relevant directives below... winbind separator = + idmap uid = 10000-20000 idmap gid = 10000-20000 winbind enum users =

Zaptel bug
Hi all, Is anyone aware of any progress on this bug? http://bugs.digium.com/view.php?id=8763 Not only is the channel randomly disappearing during idle periods, it vanishes during a call as well. No indications in dmesg, syslog, asterisk or anything. Only cure is to rmmod and modprobe again. I'm currently on 1.4.0. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Kyle -- Kyle Gordon

CDR Rewrite -- Questions to the users (Steve Murphy)
Quoth Steve Murphy... >Date: Mon, 12 Jan 2009 08:51:03 -0700 > >QUESTIONS: > >Which of the two would you see being useful to you? Obvious comment really but given LEG based CDR, one can determine the 'Simple' data but you can't work it the other way. I'd therefore find LEG based CDR more useful as the granularity (time on Hold, in Queue, Waiting on pre-xfer ring

FXO recommendation
Hi all, With the gamut of FXO cards out there, I'm looking for a recommendation for home use. I have a nicely working Asterisk 1.4 system that just requires an FXO card to connect my NTL PSTN to it. My previous X101P clone seems to have kicked the bucket. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Regards Kyle -- Kyle Gordon kyle@lodge.glasgownet.com http://lodge.glasgownet.com

Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks. By way of explanation, I've a app that connects to astmanproxy and I'd like it to know when a call group gets put into Nightservice. Simple Asterisk to Asterisk SIP Call Setup?
I have two Asterisk systems that can route to each other via a VPN with firewalls disabled for testing purposes. Each Server can see (tested via nmap) UDP port 5060 on the other. So... I thought that I could simply use a Dial command in Server A's config to place a SIP call to Server B... but it doesn't seem to work. Server A (192.168.1.33) has: exten => *136,1,Dial(SIP/90 at

Missed calls and groups
Is there a SIP header I can set (for Snom and Yealink phones if that's relevant) or any other mechanism to tell a phone to ignore a particular call from it's missed call list? I have bits of the dialplan that ring groups of phones eg: exten => 200,1,Dial(Sip/112&SIP/113&SIP/114) and I don't want such calls being recorded by the phone as a missed call. Calls to the
