There is a section that states that the private/MACHINE.SID file must be copied over exactly as is to the Samba BDC in order for that machine to act as a Samba BDC to a Samba PDC. For the life of me, I have been unable to locate that file. I have updated by locatedb and have searched for it using a variety of strings and options... Does anyone know where that file is? I have a new computer with 2 x 2TB SSDs where I wanted to install C7 and use mdadm for RAID1 configuration and encrypting the /home partition. ...ght this would be a good place to ask. I've been having some problems on my workstation, where I see the disk being pounded away at, however I don't know whats causing it. No large disk transfers are (should) be happening during these times, no database reconstructs, not the dreaded "locatedb" updater, just X, a window manager, and a web browser. It's possible that they could be caused by JavaScript doing naughty things, and most browsers are know for doing things they shouldn't, but I have no way to prove this. If I have a tool to look, I might be able to get a better id...

Hey all.. I had a bad IDE controller that hosed my EXT3 filesystems. A resulting fsck damaged pat of the filesystem and the root inode is gone (on my main drive AND the backup drive). I immediately DD'd the main drive over to an identical drive that I have been working on. But every time.. a fsck destroys all the data (moves everything to lost+found) and nothing that I've found
