Moving Profiles
...username (e.g. "Documents and Settings\Administrator" -> "Documents and Settings\DOMAIN.username") 3) Change ownership/permissions on the new profile folder to match that of the new user I'm also planning on making sure that roaming profiles are disabled using the "LocalProfile" registry key that Michael Lueck recently posted about on here. Users will have a network-home folder that will be backed up which should be plenty enough for them. Can anyone point out what problems this will cause? I think there is going to be an issue with the registry, is the SID in th...

Win2K Client / Samba 3.0.4 PDC -> Setting Win2K Profile Settings
I'm trying to locate the list of registry values to adjust how Win2K clients handle the user profile with the Win2K boxes joined to a Samba PDC and logging in with domain accounts. Specifically I would like to DISABLE roaming profiles!!! Many moons ago, the WarpServer Win2K client from IBM came with very good documentation on how to adjust that client to not create roaming profiles, etc...

PDC without profiles?
Hi -- I'd like to try running Samba as a PDC simply for authentication -- that is without doing any profile management, i.e. I'd like Windows to not write anything to the network after logout. Is this possible with Samba? I'm not seeing an obvious answer to this. Thanks! -jag -- Joshua Ginsberg <joshg@brainstorminternet.net> Brainstorm Internet Network Operations

Desktops for non-roaming profiles
Hi list, In my current organization, we aren't going to be using roaming profiles (for various reasons, it's not desired). I'm moving us from no domain controller to Samba as a PDC (with an OpenLDAP backend), and I'm trying to make the process as invisible as possible to the end users. Each XP user's local desktop exists at: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>
