Using Linux as bootloader
Hi, Not sure if this is the right mailing list for this kind of question, but I am looking for a way to boot Linux/other OS from within Linux i.e. once I have booted into Linux may be using pxe or otherwise and then I decide to boot Windows from or Linux from localdisk, then instead of rebooting th machine can I somehow execute the boot sector/grub/ntldr etc from within Linux? Is this at all possible? It seems something similar exists for ARM processor only (http://www.embeddedarm.com/software/arm-linux-bootloader.php). Thanks.

keeping indexes in tmpfs
While doing some testing with converting accounts while simulating incoming mail load (no other pop/imap processes going but 4 processes converting users), we found that we were maxing out the local disk in the server with the index activity. To find out that it was the index activity, I mounted a tmpfs for dovecot to keep indexes on, and the system load dropped from 70 to 3 :) Anyway, Timo

ITERINDEX not showing subfolders.
# 2.3.4.1 (f79e8e7e4): /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf Hello, we're using mail on NFS and the indexes on localdisk, with a director setup. (18K+ users) now to get more performance i thought to use the ITERINDEX option. however this has the side-effect on some mailboxes that it doesn't show the subfolders under INBOX. they seem 'disappeared'. Removing the ITERINDEX option fixes this again. Deleting...

Dovecot fsync question
Hello, I followed these steps in http://wiki2.dovecot.org/MailLocation/LocalDisk # Default to no fsyncing mail_fsync = never protocol lda { # Enable fsyncing for LDA mail_fsync = optimized } protocol lmtp { # Enable fsyncing for LMTP mail_fsync = optimized } This gives quite a good performance, but I'm not sure about the risks. Does it mean that things like *put a...

corrupted transaction log error resulting in multiple deliveries
...emoving the log files first, sorry). The kicker is that deliver actually did save the message to the inbox every time, so multiple copies were delivered (every time I flushed the queue until it was actually fixed, a copy was delivered). I have my mail directories on an NFS mount, and indexes on localdisk, FYI.

Error: net_connect(/var/run/dovecot/auth-master) failed: Resource temporarily unavailable
I'm using deliver (1.0.5) with Postfix (2.1.6). I made a test for a few minutes in a moderated busy server. While most mails was delivered, a lot of them failed with this error: deliver(userfoo): Oct 15 09:58:31 Error: net_connect(/var/run/dovecot/auth-master) failed: Resource temporarily unavailable Sounds to me something like not enough auth-master to answer every concurrent deliver.
