sendmail -> lmtp 501 5.6.0 Data format error
When changing in a working setup sendmail.mc From this MAILER(smtp)dnl MAILER(procmail)dnl To this FEATURE(`local_lmtp',`[IPC]',`FILE /var/run/dovecot/lmtp')dnl MAILER(local)dnl I am getting these errors '501 5.6.0 Data format error' and ' Unrecognized host name'. What should I change in my lmtp config? Could this be related that messages are being relayed from other servers? lmtp_...

How to configure sendmail using dovecot lmtp
...ver',`/usr/local/libexec/dovecot/deliver -d $u') MODIFY_MAILER_FLAGS(`LOCAL', `-f') MAILER(procmail) Is this the same for lmtp? If so how does it know when to use lda or lmtp? Beside, is procmail playing any role in any of these? Can the I just replace the whole thing as: FEATURE(`local_lmtp',`/usr/local/libexec/dovecot/deliver',`/usr/local/libexec/dovecot/deliver -d $u) MAILER(`local') Thanks. -- View this message in context: http://dovecot.2317879.n4.nabble.com/How-to-configure-sendmail-using-dovecot-lmtp-tp43648.html Sent from the Dovecot mailing list archive at...

Dovecot user lookup from sendmail
...d to do is define(`confLOCAL_MAILER',`cyrusv2')dnl define(`CYRUSV2_MAILER_ARGS',`FILE /var/lib/imap/socket/lmtp')dnl MAILER(cyrusv2)dnl and both user checks and local delivery worked. What's the appropriate config entry in the .mc for dovecot? I tried settings like: FEATURE(`local_lmtp',`[IPC]',`FILE /var/run/dovecot/lmtp')dnl and used the dovecot.m4 file together with MAILER(`dovecot')dnl but couldn't see anything happening - or improve. Dovecot LMTP does not pass envelope recipient +detail to sieve
I found this[1] thread that describes the same problem with dovecot-LDA, but the solution (add X-Original-To: header) has no effect with LMTP. My sendmail LMTP configuration: FEATURE(`local_lmtp',`[IPC]',`FILE /var/run/dovecot/lmtp') Sendmail's address test indicates that sendmail is providing user+detail to LMTP (see below). Except for this problem, dovecot, LMTP, and sieve are all working perfectly. Is there something I'm missing, or is this a bug? [1] http://d...

Pigeonhole and duplicate checking
...e core repos for CentOS/6, which means Dovecot 2.0.9 and Pigeonhole 0.2.2. Unfortunately, I don't expect to be able to upgrade those anytime soon, so I'm hoping I can find workarounds for my existing versions. My mailserver is sendmail, I linked to Dovecot LMTP by adding: FEATURE(`local_lmtp', `[IPC]', `FILE /var/run/dovecot/lmtp')dnl to my sendmail.mc. In my prior procmail setup, I auto-forwarded all my SPAM E-mail to a separate user on the system with their own account (called spamuser). In the Pigeonhole setup it looks like I have to redirect those messages (i.e., r...
