matching pairs regardless of order
Dear list, ? I am using match() to match pairs of locations, e.g. trip="loc1,loc2" from a list of such pairs, e.g. list=("loc1,loc2", "loc1,loc3", "loc2,loc3","loc2,loc1"). ? In this example match() will match "trip" with the first element of "list", but not the 4th, because the order is reversed. ? How can...

Way to handle variable length and numbers of columns using read.table(...)
I've got read.table to successfully read in my table of three columns. Most of the time I will have a set number of rows, but sometime that will be variable and sometimes there will be only be two variables in one row, e.g. Time Loc1 Loc2 1 22.33 44.55 2 66.77 88.99 3 222.33344.55 4 66.77 88.99 Is there any way to have read.table handle (1) a variable number of rows, and (2) sometime there are only two variables as shown in Time = 3 above? Just curious about how to handle this, and if read.table is the right way to go about...

cascading LANs
I have a DMZ (eth2: 10.0.100.0) and a LOC1 (eth0: 10.0.0.0) defined on my firewall. On one of the port on the switch serving LOC1 I have now a router and a switch feeding a bunch of computers with net=10.0.200.0. While I have defined a route to reach LOC2, I would like to define also a specific zone in order to assign different rules to...

Allowing traffic within same zone on multi-subnet interface
...rom one subnet in loc zone can not access other loc hosts from the second subnet. For example 10.0.10.100 can not ping nor access 10.0.20.100. Pinging from 10.0.10.100 to 10.0.10.200 obviously works as it does not go through shorewall. I''m able to workaround this by defining another loc1 zone and putting 10.0.20.0 into loc1, then defining policy and rules between loc and loc1. What I''m in fact trying to do is to do ''routeback'' on a interface with multiple zones and multiple subnets. How to do it? Note that defining new zone for each new subnet is...
