Can Constant Failed Connection Attempts Crash a Server?
...200,000 failed attempts to connect to a share EVERY DAY.
For example, in the logs shown below, a video encoding station
"encoder-pc1" is trying to connect to a Samba share called
"tx-masters_". However, the share is actually called "tx-masters_1".

Problem joining domain [SEC=UNCLASSIFIED]
...the next version that I had downloaded 4.3.3. With this I was able to successfully join the domain.
I am thinking to:
1) seize roles with samba 3.3 server
2) shutdown 2003 server
3) join domain with samba 4.10 server
4) transfer roles to samba 4.10 server
5) demote samba 3.3 server (this PC is a loaner)
Is there any benefit in walking up the versions from 3.3 to 4.8.x before seizing the roles?
When you say "walk up the versions", do you mean 4.4, 4.5, 4.6, 4.7, 4.8?
Cheers
Russell

I wouldn't do that, there was a bug that left you with a non-operating DC
This is where I would 'walk' up the minor versions 4.3.3 -> 4.7.x -> 4.8.x -> 4.10.x

I hope my explanation above answers those questions.

R book
Hi All,
I'd be interested in your opinions of the book
"Introductory Statistics with R" by Peter Dalgaard
Does it well describe the R object concept, the language itself and
statistical aspects (I am not a statistician)?
thanks for your opinion,
Arne

The RGtk2 package did not find libglade installed. Please install it.
Hello,
I'm looking forward to mining some new data six
ways from Sunday with a great looking R
application named "rattle".
May I please have the benefit of this list's
informed thoughts on how to debug an installation
error?
On Debian Linux's unstable release, I've done
root$ aptitude install r-cran-rattle
root$ aptitude install r-cran-rgtk2
user$ R

Upgrading R on my EEE PC netbook
I have been successfully been using R on my EEE PC for some while
now. Although it uses Xandros I have been able to install various
pieces of software by pretending that it was Debian etch. Johannes
was kind enough to continue providing binaries on CRAN for a while
but I think I am the only person still living in the past as CRAN
etch is currently stuck at 2.11.0 and I cannot rely on him to

Can body() return a function's body intact, in order, and as characters ready for editing?
Is my understanding correct that the body()
function currently can't return a function's body
intact, in order, and as characters ready for
editing?
My testing and reading of body()'s help indicate
that it can not.
Here's what I'm seeing.
Consider pasting
1+
and a function containing
x^2
together to get
1+x^2
As you can see below, body() reports three

got at work via h.323. But my first goal is to get any of my devices to
talk to Asterisk, which so far I've been unable to do.
Hardware in-hand consists of a K6-2 based 2.6 kernel Gentoo box, two
Selsius 30 VIP phones, a couple of Selsius 12SP+'s, a loaner Altigen

with a Uniden cordless phone until I get an FXS interface of so...

How big is *your* dialplan??
Hello!
In my relentless quest for knowledge, I pose this question: who's got
the biggest
dialplans, and how big are these monsters?
What's the biggest dialplan in use right now? If you feel you are a
competitor,
let me know how many contexts/extensions/priorities you are dealing
with. Maybe the
context with the most extensions, the extension with the most priorities
would be
