Nope. I didn't specify "–enable-selftest" either. The default for this option being "no", why does "configure" stop after complaining that "–enable-selftest" requires lmdb? Maybe I'm just being stupid... It happens.

The "configure" stage actually failed. How can it be a message problem only?

Upgrade 4.8 to 4.9 with Backend-Change to lmdb?
...n i'm happy with the status of 4.9.x then im moving it from the test repo to the stretch-samba49 repo.
And I really suggest you wait until that happen, except when your want to test things out.
Just change the repo name to : stretch-experimental
If you want to test ldmb, the preparation for lmdb are done in the 4.9.x. packages.
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_4.9_Features_added/changed#New_Experimental_LMDB_LDB_backend
Im not aware of an upgrade possibilty of tdb to lmdb (yet).
At least i did not find any upgrade notes.
I hope this is a bit the answer your are looking for.

Upgrade 4.8 to 4.9 with Backend-Change to lmdb?
Hi list,
are there preparations for upgrading a samba 4.8.5 to 4.9.1 via
van-belle-repository to change the backend db? Is there some handwork
necessary?

we have had this issue at another client earlier and Andr?as here digged
into this issue [1]. There is a compile time constant in LMDB lib that
is too low for large samba Domain.
I think you just have to upgrade LMDB. Looking at your python 3.6 I
guess you are still on CentOS7, then you can get the patched lmdb here
(reminder: you should only need the lmdb package for that specific bug):

SPN and case sensitivity on LMDB backend
...on-Windows-based computer."
So I don't know if it is the dbcheck or the SPN which is wrong. Those
two SPN have been produced automatically by a Windows workstation. I
don't know if it is the OS upgrade from the client (win7 to win10) or if
it is the upgrade of Samba (4.8 TDB to 4.9 LMDB) that created this
discrepancy, but it is there...
Cleaning up the SPN remove the dbcheck error. Should I fill a bugzilla
entry for this?
Cheers,
Denis

Hi Louis,
you could use the systemd "requires=" directive to enforce, that
samba/smbd is running before winbind.

DRS and DNS sync are not working after update from 4.8.2 to 4.8.3
Hi there,
I had some off list conversation with Aleksey and wanted
to give an update on our findings (s. below).
I'm currently preparing a test stack with
ldb 1.4.0 (without lmdb support)
and
samba 4.8.3
build on top of it, to check whether lmdb support causes
the mentioned trouble.
An on a site note:
When compiling ldb 1.4.0 with "--without-ldb-lmdb" a general
error occurs during "make test":

It's TDB. I am unaware of the chance to convert to LMDB.

This is not expected.
It is hard to say what the problem is without detail such as the Samba
version, what kind of database ldb is using (tdb or lmdb), the size of
the domain, the number of active users, and the extent to which memory
usage gets worse over time.
Do you know why your database is 4GB?

commiting SAM database
...via an openLDAP (hiphiphuraaaa) we started with a new domain (I
think it's the best way after 18 years) and now we are pushing all
objects into the now domain. They getting a new storage and all the
fileserver have to move anyway so the time is right for making
everything new.
@Andrew We took lmdb as a backend for the database together with bind9.

Upgrade from 4.9.8 to 4.10.3 on Centos using Sernet Packages
Hello Cristian,
Well, nothing to say about your steps, these looks good.
And lmdb could be disable in the sernet packages, cant say, i dont know.
And only one DC has these problems or all? If only one DC crashed.
Which DC crashes. Last added? Oldest?

Error when raising Samba 4.19 Functional Level
Hi, I raised the functional level of my Samba 4.19 server with the commands
below, the Schema update took a long time but ended successfully, however
when raising the functional level with the second command the error below
occurred and I was unable to complete the complete process. Can anyone tell
me what could have happened or if they have experienced this?

By default, the Jansson JSON library is required for Samba to build.
It is strictly required for the Samba AD DC, and is optional for

New experimental LMDB LDB backend

A new experimental LDB backend using LMDB is now available. This allows
databases larger than 4Gb (Currently the limit is set to 6Gb, but this will be
