Experience with LLDP
Hello, LLDP is more and more available on various network elements (endpoint, switches, ...). It seems to ease network configuration. Do you have any experience with it ? How would you rate LLDP ? OT - SIP phones supporting LLDP-Med
Hi, Has anyone heard of SIP phones supporting LLDP-Med ? Mitel or Avaya phones are supposed to support it but I don't if it applies to SIP firmware enabled hardphones or not. implementation of IEEE 802.1Qbg in lldpad, part2
...s series of patches contains the second part of an initial implementation of the IEEE 802.1Qbg standard: code for the exchange of VDP VSI TLVs between a host with virtual machines and an adjacent switch. VDP profiles consisting of mode, mgrid, typeid, typeidversion, instanceid, mac, vlan can be given to lldpad with lldptool. A way to deliver profiles to lldpad from libvirt using netlink messages is currently under development and not yet included in this series. The profiles are then processed through the VDP/VSI and ECP state machines and sent out as ECP frames. ACK frames are received and processed...

implementation of IEEE 802.1Qbg in lldpad
Hi, this set of patches contains the initial implementation of the IEEE 802.1Qbg standard: code for the exchange of EVB TLVs in LLDP frames to negotiate VSI capabalities as well as VDP VSI TLVs between a host with virtual machines and an adjacent switch. It supports setting the parameters of the TLV exchange from the command line using lldptool. VDP profiles consisting of mode, mgrid, typeid, typeidversion, instanceid, mac, vlan can...

Virtualization Digest, Vol 60, Issue 17
Hi, Can someone please point me to where I can find this early version of the IEEE802.1Qbg implementation? When I downloaded the 0.9.38 version of lldpad, it does not have the latest set of code mentioned below. Thanks. Arpit. -----Original Message----- From: virtualization-bounces at lists.linux-foundation.org [mailto:virtualization-bounces at lists.linux-foundation.org] On Behalf Of virtualization-request at lists.linux-foundation.org Sent: Wed...

UDP unicast network backend (QEMU)
...backend support https://github.com/qemu/qemu/commit/0e0e7facc775e9bb020314f48751b3d09f316c8b#diff-a0a1810b6e249e68f1a290e37399becb Checked latest libvirt on the git repo, and didn't see this as an option. So tried to use the mcast tunnel mode. I keep getting duplicate packets with BPDUs and LLDP packets going between the Point to point connection between the VMs. VMs have bridges on them. When I used the TCP tunnel interface, if the client came up before the server end, the connection failed to establish. So both methods not super reliable. If I manually change the netdev settings to use...

Aastra phones occasionally show "No Service" - Is there any network setting I can tamper to facilitate a quick DHCP renewal on the Aastra phones?
...e peer to peer connections between the phones in a network. Anyhow, if the phones are restarted they work fine. So, I was looking around the Aastra Admin UI to find any timer to lower it to 1 second to check and make sure the device always has an ip but I can't seem to find anything other than LLDP which is set at 30 and I don't think that will be of any help. I did a test where I would disconnect the router from the switch and after a while phones go into "No Service" but if I plug it back into the switch the phones do not come back right away. Maybe something should be dialed...

asterisk-users Digest, Vol 130, Issue 14
...do route traffic as well, that shouldn't be coming into play here. We had a very specific issue at a client recently with Yealink phones and Cisco routers. No Yealink we plugged in would pick up an IP from the DHCP server so it could be configured. To correct it we had to explicitly turn off LLDP (link layer discovery protocol) on the Yealinks in order to get them to work on the Cisco'ed network. Did not fool around with the Cisco to try and solve the issue, and still don't know exactly what was going wrong, but it seems defined that using recent model Yealink phones on a network w...

[Bridge] Sniffing a linux bridge vs sniffing enslaved interfaces
I can think of several potential differences. ?You may miss any bridge specific traffic (STP, LLDP) using the interfaces generated by the bridge itself. If you have vlan tagged sub interfaces you might also miss that traffic if you were snooping a particular interface. Obviously you will miss any on-wire broadcast traffic specific to the layer1 connection a particular interface was connected to...
