where did all the nonfree rpms go? Nvidia? xine-lib-mp3?
I installed Centos on some machines that need long term support. I'm running up against some simple user convenience issues. How to play MP3? I've been really puzzled today that the addon rpm sites like livna, rpmforge, rpmfusion, epel, don't seem to have something like amarok-mp3 or xine-lib-mp3. What am I missing? It can be done in Ubuntu, Debian, and Fedora Linux. In the worst case scenario, what must be done? get the xine source code and build an rpm that includes the mp3 components? Do you...

additional yum repos for 4.3
Hi; On my Fedora Systems [/etc/yum.repos.d] I have the following repos: dag.repo dries.repo fedora-extras.repo fedora.repo fedora-updates.repo freshrpms.repo livna.repo Two questions: 1) Where can I get a .repo file (with centos url's of course) for the baseic stuff like updates and extras. 1b) Can I use redhat repos? 2) What about the other guys, livna, dag, dries, freshrpms. Which one of these is safe to use on a production server in conjunction with...

Does Nouveau break the nVidia drivers?
Dear developers I would like to submit dumps, but I spend ~4 hours last time on installing the nVidia drivers, and ended up with the livna.org RPM's. So can I install the Nouveau driver without damaging the nVidia drivers? I am using Fedora 7 and integrated NVIDIA GeForce 6150. That's the C51 core, right? Hugs, Louise

Hi, at first i have to mention, that i am an freshman in Linux. I am working with it since half a year and still trying to get the basic-knowledge. Nevertheless I've wanted to install Diablo, my favourite game, on Wine. But when I start the setup.exe with the 'Wine-Windows-Emulator' an dchoose the installation-path, only an video-sequence starts, then it returnes to desktop. When I

swfdec not working - how to troubleshoot?
...hard in develpment to I'm not expected to see any video or you have done enough work so that most sites should work but there is some issue in rawhide or firefox 3? I really want to remove proprietary flash from my system so I also wanted to if swfdec would work on Fedora 8. I found swfdec in livna repository and installed it (version 0.5.3), and I renamed proprietary ibflashplayer.so to ibflashplayer.so.bad so that symlins to that file fail and that swfdec gets loaded. I see swfdec loaded but I don't see any flas, not even flash banner that I see under rawhide with swfdec 0.5.5 Should...

atrpms nvidia cannot load
Hi guys - brand new 5.1 install here and quite happy - but... The nv driver did not work at all for me, fritzy stripes and dots. This is a GeForce 7300 LE which was working happily dual-head under FC6 with the livna nvidia RPMs So I looked around and it seemed like the ATRpms repo via yum was the best option for CentOS. This is what I installed, it worked great with the xorg.conf from the old system. But then I did a 'yum update' to the system and got a new kernel from centosplus (?). Now the n...

yum repo with Nvidia driver RPMs?
Looks like there's no repo that carries the Nvidia drivers. I enabled all the big repos in /etc/yum.repos.d and did a "yum provides" and nothing showed up. Where do you get your Nvidia RPMs from? -- Florin Andrei http://florin.myip.org/

swfdec in firefox on Fedora8 x86_64
Hi All, I've tried swfdec on Fedora 8 x86_64 without much luck. I originally used the rpms from livna. I primarily want it just to view youtube videos which from various blog posts I thought worked. It seems to detect the flash but i just get a white background (it does detect a plugin as you don't get the jigsaw piece). So i recompiled the rpm on my machine just to make sure. No difference.

I believe this could be interesting to a number of people on the list, not just me.

LOTD with CentOS 5
..., benefiting from their packaging guidelines, and also to not replace the stable very well tested CentOS packages. [yjl-misc] does not replace any CentOS packages and has stuff from F8 everything like AbiWord, Gnumeric, Bluefish, BitTorrent, etc. as well as some multimedia related libraries. [yjl-livna] has rebuilds of stuff from rpm.livna.org - mostly multimedia related, including xine and totem-xine. Depends on [yjl-misc]. [yjl-php] has php 5.2.5 and does replace the CentOS php, it should probably only be used if something you are doing requires php 5.2.x. For those interested: http://www.pen...

Dug myself into a hole
I just build a CentOS 6 machine to replace my old machine which broke to where I could not fix it. In attempting to get the applications running which had worked on the old machine, I did updates from several repos such as rpmforge, atrpms, livna, epel, etc. Some of the attempts ended going down blind alleys. Now I have a mix of rpm's from various sites that I do not need, but they are listed as dependencies of other rpm's. The rpmforge rpm's are marked with "rf". Is there a process to check which of these rpm'...

akmod-nvidia update, lose openGL functionality
Sorry if this has been dealt with, but I couldn't find it in a search. I updated Fedora to the new kernel build, and there are no current drivers for nvidia cards for that. That's fine, livna made a new neat thing called akmod-nvidia that appears to have built the drivers very nicely (quite pleased with that). All is happy and shiny from within Linux (compiz works and openGL games work well). WINE, however, does not work with anything requiring openGL. My primary concern (I shudder to...

New Centos User - Yum Repositories Question
I've been using Red Hat and its derivatives since RH4.2. I use Fedora Core 6 for all of my desktop machines, but I decided to go for Centos 5 for my new colo web server. So I've just taken delivery of a new Centos 5 virtual server from Bytemark (http://bytemark.co.uk/) and I'm trying to get it set up with all the RPMs that I'm used to from FC6. As I understand it, the Centos
