Question about nut-dependencies
...-evaluate dependencies like in that ticket, where a
dependency on 'libproxy' was added as a 'neon' that pulled in a bunch of
larger dependencies like big packages like gtk? It would seem advisable, in
the case of Mac Ports, to lock in the sub-package neon @0.29.6_2 and not
pull in a litany of other dependencies for a small utility like upsmon?
Finally, thank you to all who continue to maintain the project. It is a
great set of utilities.

newbie questions / documentation feedback?
...through the wiki and the asterisk documentation project's book as I go,
trying to understand it all as I go.
Needless to say, I'm getting myself quite confused at times. What is the
appropriate venue to report my confusion, and possibly give feedback to
the book authors in the form of the litany of questions that come to mind
as I read, which are not answered within a page of the item that prompted
the question?
For example:
Chapter 4, page 24:
What does 'context=default' refer to? Is this the section of the dialplan
where incoming calls are to start?
What does the channel num...

what's the advantage of NetworkManager for server?
...gh
that might change in the next few weeks).? So, we have a virtualization
host in an IBM Bladecenter with iSCSI shared storage on some? EMC
Clariion LUNs through a Cisco 7609 switch/router with RSP720.? Anyone
who has ever dealt with these items in a cold boot situation probably
knows how the litany goes at this point.....
Prior to the NetworkManager intelligence, I would have to manually reset
the host in the Bladecenter after the EMC was up and after the 7609 was
up.? Not any more.? Nice. (Clariion can take 15-20 minutes to come all
the way back up on a hard power fail; 7609 can take 10...

what's the advantage of NetworkManager for server?
Hi:
I always use network-scripts to start network at EL7.
NetworkManager is not as good as network scripts under that OS.
but now EL8 said that network-scripts is depreciated. I wonder if
I should still use network-scripts to start network? I am afraid
there will be new bugs for the network-scripts, like systemd service
unit dependency. although it is solid at EL7.

telnet and samba
I have posted this question twice without any response.
We are running samba on an OpenUnix 8 machine, then we are mapping the
samba share on a Windows 2000 machine. If we run our process from the
Windows command line..(copying files to the share) everything runs
great. The problem is if someone telnets to the Windows 2000 machine
and
runs the same process they get "The specific network

Backups solution from WinDoze to linux
My manager just tasked me at looking at this, for one team we're
supporting. Now, he'd been thinking of bacula, but I see their Windows
binaries are now not-free, so I'm looking around. IIRC, Les thinks highly
of backuppc; comments on that, or other packaged solutions?

Is Rails Appropriate for our Project?
I realize this subject is redundant for this community, but I''m hoping
the Rails community can provide me with some additional ammunition to
help push a rails project I''m pitching over the proverbial tipping point
at my company.
The Situation:
I''m the lead architect at a large bay area retailer. My team and I are
currently suffering through the process of paying

Samba and LDAP backend - howto docs problems?
Hi all,
I have followed the instructions at
http://samba.mirror.ac.uk/samba/docs/man/passdb.html in an attempt to
set up a Samba v3.0.2 (supplied by Redhat as part of RHEL v3.0) PDC.
I have got as far as trying to get a windows 2k box to join this new
domain that I have created, however this fails with the error "Logon
failure: unknown user name or password".
Samba itself logs
