part of post-processing in libnet join.
DOMAIN\domain admins is added to BUILTIN\administrators, DOMAIN\domain
users is added to BUILTIN\users, and DOMAIN\guests is added to
BUILTIN\guests. You can view
the foreign memberships of these groups via "net groupmap listmem" or by
using "tdbdump <state directory>/group_mapping.tdb". You can even do the
same with groupmap entries
for local Unix groups (make them members of BUILTIN\administrators,
granting access to "computer management").

OK,I'm In Trouble
Hi Everyone,
I've been getting this error when trying to login from an XP box to a Samba

Winbind - how to map ADS group to Unix group
I am running 3.0.10-1.4E on RHEL4. The machine is a ADS member server. I
would like to statically map the ADS group "Domain Admins" to the built in
"wheel" group so all members of "Domain Admins" are in the "wheel" group. I
have looked at the username map option, but I don't want a group of users
mapped to a UID (this would defeat what I am trying to

svcctl - access denied
I have a samba 3.0.23a server that is a member of a Windows 2003 Active
Directory domain. I can use the Services MMC to see the services specified in
the svcctl list option in smb.conf but trying to stop/start any services gives
me an "Access Denied".
I have tried this as a normal user as well as the domain Administrator account.
I'm sure it's something I'm missing, but I

It doesn't ask for credentials here, and the LDAP reference is

Security = ADS and 3.0.23 Upgrade
Since upgrading to 3.0.23 I have encountered several problems. (latest
Debian Sarge with deb's from samba.org and security = ADS). All was
working flawlessly before.
*1.* getent passwd no longer lists machine accounts.
*2.* On the Win2K pdc, the samba system's "DNS name" on the general tab
is now listed as localhost.localdomain, and the operating system is
still listed as

is adding the CORP\user to the NT Uses group--the user does not inherit
the NT filesystem ACLs.
Another problem that may possibly be related to the above is that the
remote domain does not always show up in the Samba tools. For example, I
can add CORP\fred to a group but when I use "net sam listmem Users" to
dump the user list for the group, the user shows up as "\user" and the
domain element is missing. Is this correct behavior or is something
misconfigured (I can see how inability to reverse-map the principal would
correlate with broken ACL inheritance, so maybe this is relat...

Printer Admin Difficulties
I have been trying to setup a new print server on Fedora 12 based around
samba-3.4.7-58.fc12.x86_64 and cups-1.4.2-28.fc12.x86_64. All looks
good except for the ability for printer administrators to manage
printers. Whether I specify users in a system group using the
deprecated printer admin option, or specifically using net rpc rights
and the SePrinterOperatorPrivilege, it does not matter.
