Icecast Radiolist Error
...ultimedia Player (VLC-Player) from Videolan can not play current a single Radiostation in the Icecast Radios List "http://dir.xiph.org/yp.xml". The "Icecast Radio Directory" in the VLC-Player does'nt find any Icecast Radiostation.
I get an Error in Line 51875, column 75 <listen_url>http://sc1.shoutcaststreaming.us:73000/3H...>/listen_url> if I open the Icecast-Radiolist in my Webbrowser Mozilla Firefox.
Something ist wrong with the Internet-Adress for the Radiostation "Free Talk Live - 64k".

Broken UTF-8 in yp.xml?
...p.xml file is UTF-8 there seem to be some entries with
broken UTF-8 (which most often looks like multiple-encoded UTF-8, but
with one "wrong" byte which prevents reversing the string back to
regular UTF-8).
As an example, look for the topmost entry in ypxml which has
85.239.108.31 in its listen_url - that should be a radio station Welle
T?ringens Rock with the letter "?" being broken.

yp->server_desc, yp->url, yp->listen_url,

a simple hard coding of your parameters there will also suit your
needs. Note doing it properly via config overrides takes a bit more work :)

How to get listed in dir.xiph.org?
I've been trying to tweak my icecast.xml file to get listed in
xip.xiph.org, but am not making any progress.
I'm running icecast 2.3.1 and darkice 0.19
Here are what I think are the relvant parts of icecast.xml:
<directory>
<yp-url-timeout>15</yp-url-timeout>
<yp-url>http://dir.xiph.org/cgi-bin/yp-cgi</yp-url>
</directory>
