Problems with Broadcom 4312 wireless
...uidance for getting multimedia working and got the nvidia driver loaded. That works great. Last problem is with the Broadcom 4312 wireless device. Again, did some research and found two ways. One was the Broadcom provided Linux driver, and the other was the guidance on how to use fw-cutter from linuxwireless.com. Had a problem getting the Broadcom driver to compile (failed with a "define TYPEDEF_BOOL" collision that I couldn't work out). Has been many a year since I last worked with C/C++, so I tried the other guidance to use fw-cutter. I now have partial success. The wireless device l...

bcm43xx CentOS5
...aken, not complaining coz hey it's a 440BX-M so is fairly unimportant in the overall scheme of things) So, as every other box in the house now runs CentOS i installed that instead. dl'd the bcm43xx-fwcutter from Karanbir (thanks btw!) cut out the bits from the 3.x firmware from the link on linuxwireless.org, altered modprobe.conf etc. Wireless now works but is *real slow* just for internet access (like minutes for pages to load). ssh, ping etc all good and quick I am wondering if it is because of the old version of BCM43xx that is in the 2.6.18 kernel (never liked softMAC much) or if something e...

Obtaining a newer Broadcomm (bcm43xx) driver for CentOS 5
I'm using CentOS 5 (w/all latest updates as of 2008-01-06) on an HP laptop -- in fact, the exact laptop described here: http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Laptops/HP/Pavilion-ze5300_Series Ever since I switched from SHARED to OPEN authentication (and hence from using ndiswrapper to the bcm43xx module, as explained on that wiki page), I've been having packet loss and/or collision on the

Need Broadcom 4311 firmware for CentOS 5
Any hope of getting my laptop's Broadcom BCM94311 wireless running on CentOS 5? I find lots of references to using fwcutter to get the needed firmware from Windows drivers, but there's a Catch-22: Version of fwcutter that generate files for the bcm43xx driver in CentOS 5 don't recognize the md5sum of any currently available Windows driver. Newer versions of fwcutter

CentOS 7.2 laptop wireless Intel Corporation Centrino Wireless-N 2230 (rev c4)
With CentOS 7.2 a laptop wireless card is recognized in dmesg, but nonfunctional. Toggling the hardware wifi switch causes the Bluetooth icon to appear and disappear. The network configuration window shows the Wireless tab greyed out. Rebooting with the bluetooth enabled does not help. It appears the appropriate driver is iwlwifi, which is what works in Fedora and appears to be available and

Suggestion.
Hi, I''m new to the list. I intend to learn about some Linux Networking features to help myself and others. I''m looking to control the bandwidth in my office. Basically there are like 20 computers, a 2MB Adsl Line. And I would love to let them only use a certain amount of bandwidth. For example let every client use 20KB of internet bandwidth of the 210KB we can download
