Replacement for Linux-HA (heartbeat) - RedHat cluster?
...wondering what other option have I got to help me: 1. Use IPVS to maintain a cluster of virtual servers, either master/slave or load-balanced. 2. Use DRBD in master/slave fashion to keep a home-grown application highly-available. The first thing I stumbled upon is RedHat Cluster Suite ( http://www.linuxtopia.org/online_books/centos_linux_guides/centos_cluster_configuration_and_management/), from which I also saw some packages on my CentOS servers. I've never heard of it before and am just starting to dig its docs, but if someone here can confirm/deny that this is a possible route to take it might...

Diskless client from system-config-netboot doesn't boot.
Hi folks, I've followed a set of instructions I found on http://www.linuxtopia.org/online_books/centos_linux_guides/centos_enterprise_linux_sysadmin_guide/ch-diskless.htmli which describes using system-config-netboot to set up PXE booting. I used a CentOS-4.3 install (custom, all options de-selected, then anaconda-busybox installed after the fact) as a reference/base. I fo...

CUPS Windows point'n'click driver installation
...rate the drivers manually: * If I installed the driver locally on a Win7 computer, all neccessary files are copied to %Windir%\System32\spool\drivers\x64\3\ (do this on a host, that never has a driver installed. Otherwise there may be other files from other drivers in there too). * See http://www.linuxtopia.org/online_books/network_administration_guides/samba_reference_guide/29_CUPS-printing_105.html. Start with step 4. You can copying the files from the Windows host (location see above) to the print$ share, too, of course. > hp5100dtn: http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4...

Radeon driver under CentOS-6
I wonder if anyone has CentOS-6 working on an HP MicroServer? I'm having a problem with the graphics driver for the Radeon HD 4200 graphics card. CentOS-5.6 is working fine on this machine; but at present I only have CentOS-6 running in text mode. The graphics card as given by "/sbin/lspci -m" is ------------------------------- 01:05.0 "VGA compatible controller"

Remote Registry Changes
...ile now, and have managed to find docs for samba-tng which seem to allow this (which is useless to me as I'm not using samba-tng :) ), and a couple of sites that suggest that the command 'regcreatekey' should be usable with the rpcclient command. (One example is from http://www.linuxtopia.org/online_books/ network_administration_guides/using_samba_book/appd_01_00.html). Actually, I even seem to find a reference to them in the patch file here: (http://lists.samba.org/archive/samba-cvs/2005-February/ 054808.html) Anyway, there is no documentation of this (or any similar) command...

administering an MS Windows partition under Linux
Hi all, If I have a dual-boot machine (Linux and Windows) would I have any good tools under Linux that would allow me to look at the content of the Windows boot partition, administer it, clean up the registry, remove viruses if any, etc? The Windows installation seems to be so defective as to be quite useless so I am trying to think of a good strategy for dealing with the situation. Thanks in

[Bug 613] New: iptables not accepting RELATED, ESTABLISHED udp packets
...st=63.97.78.114 sport=41329 dport=162 packets=1 bytes=135 [UNREPLIED] src=63.97.78.114 dst=70.218.8.48 sport=162 dport=41329 packets=0 bytes=0 mark=0 use=2 TCP packets seem to work fine. I originally thought that this was simply a limitation of using UDP packets, but after reading this http://www.linuxtopia.org/Linux_Firewall_iptables/x1544.html, I feel that RELATED,ESTABLISHED UDP packets should work with iptables. I have verified that the sent UDP packet was sent successful and that the returned UDP packet has the dport set to the original sent packet's sport. Is this a bug or is my rule incor...

fstab problem after a failed drive
Everyone, I installed a sata drive on a SuperMicro with SCSI drives. No problem with the installation. Everything went as expected as the os recognized the drive and assigned /dev/sdc to the new 300 gig Seagate drive. I had planned to use this drive for backup tarballs. The drive had been functional for about a week with no problems. Apparently it went out today when I tried to reboot the
