Accepting packets with frame dest.addr. ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff for routing
Hi all,
do anybody know, whether is it possible to route packets incoming to
ethernet interface as broadcasts?

RE: installing automatic routes ?
Unless the bridge keeps stateful inspection data and can reply back to
the session''s origin, not it route then its fine.
The only way I can see this working is either putting the FTP/.. DMZ
behind the firewall giving true firewall protection for all services
involved, or if you just want to kludge the current solution, you can
perform a DNAT/SNAT interface bounce like the following:

windowsworkstations.
these 2 subnets should be merged to one.
we already connected the 2 linuxboxes with tinc and it worked smooth. but
the subnets behind the routers werent pingable.

Seifried <seifried@seifried.org> pointed out that the 2.1 kernels seem
to have better network performance. Dave Cinge specifically mentioned
the Linux Router Project (http://www.linuxrouter.org/) and their work
in this area. He points out that traffic characteristics seem to have
a significant impact on the effective throughput:

compare / contrast of linux fw and others
Hi,
I was wondering how a linux box configured as a firewall stacked up
against some of the commercial products like checkpoint-1 and gauntlet.
Can someone direct me to a good book or online doc that compares linux
to some other firewall methods?
Mind you, I''m not talking about a firewall in the classical sense, ie
ip forwarding turned off and used as a proxy, but the typical Linux box
