Installation of libvirt on Ubuntu
...ake and make install. As I am going to install an open source simulation system named openairinterface, Ubuntu is the recommended OS, and I want to install the simulation system in libvirt lxc. (as you may know, there is another lxc user space tool on Ubuntu whose official website is "https://linuxcontainers.org", which I don't want to use). My questions are: 1) Can I install libvirt on Ubuntu with the same installation steps as on Fedora (i.e., manually download the tar.gz packet and install it locally)? I found a link talking about installation libvirt on Ubuntu which installs something...

Host loses network connectivity when starting containers
...re being run. Once this happens, the only way to fix the problem is to reboot the instance and hope that on the reboot, the containers will start successfully this time. In troubleshooting efforts that I've done I've found that the problem does not occur with containers defined with the linuxcontainers.org flavor of lxc. I've also discovered that if I configure my containers to use libvirt's default isolated bridge device virbr0, this loss of network connectivity does not appear to happen when the containers are started. Specifically, I ran a test that repeatedly started/stopped a...

Mapping physical interface to a container
In the "other" LXC project (linuxcontainers.org), you can map a host's physical ethernet interface to a container, e.g. lxc.network.type = phys lxc.network.flags = up lxc.network.link = eth1 lxc.network.name = eth1 Is there an equivalent option for doing this with libvirt lxc? Peter

Alternatively, you can use a container. Cannot change NTACL for share from Windows

OK, I found some evidence of this here: https://discuss.linuxcontainers.org/t/samba-acls-in-a-lxd-container/4420/7 It seems that changing xattr information requires real root which is why it won't work with an unprivileged container. If what is said in that discussion is true, then the only workaround for a non privileged container is to assume no support fo...

Use of this is discouraged, in favour of passing arguments directly to the container init process via the initarg config element. Re: [libvirt] libvirt and dmesg
Hello Pierre-Jacques, First note that you posted your message on the developer's mailing list. For such user questions, rather email: https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/libvirt-users According to https://linuxcontainers.org/lxc/manpages//man5/lxc.container.conf.5.html lxc.kmsg is only used to symlink /dev/kmsg to /dev/console. Thus setting this to 0 only results in the lack of that symlink. libvirt doesn't setup this link at all, may be it is coming from the lxc domain root file system. On Wed, 2017-03-15...

[OT?] VM or Container for an AD DC?
I'm starting to deploy my new domain in my organization, setting up the new domain and DCs. I'm following the recommendation to create the DCs as ''DC only'', eg with only samba and a root access for ssh. Having to choose between VMs and Containers (LXC), there's differences between them that can involve samba features/performances? Filesystem limitation? Seems to

unnecessary /proc requirement in 3.1.1
Hi. Thanks for good program. I'm quite paranoid guy and dont beleave when some program offer me "use chroot = yes". Instead i jail program manually. I was at 3.0.9 and all was fine. Manual chroot only requires files dir, config and personal tmp. 3.1.1 now also want whole /proc only for /proc/self/fd/X instead just fd number. Whole /proc is serious security risk for me. Why? starce
