pread() failures when using mdbox on btrfs
...g when running dovecot under btrfs with a mailbox in mdbox
format. At some point, which can take a few minutes or more than a day,
dovecot starts logging pread() failures, like so:
Apr 02 23:43:42 thetick dovecot[570]: imap(marcec): Error: pread() failed with
file /home/marcec/.mdbox/mailboxes/LinuxAudio/User/dbox-
Mails/dovecot.index.log: Input/output error
These would trigger when getmail runs (which in turn is configured to use
dovecot-lda). It's only ever the *.index.log files, and it would usually
happen to the same one many times in a row. To demonstrate, this is the full

Decoding for ambisonic Ogg audiob
...ter decoding it?
The following sane options exist:
A) Simply output the B-format audio
B) Produce a downmix
1) Mono.
2) Stereo blumlein crossed pairs
3) Stereo UHJ
4) binaural
C) Produce speaker feeds
1) Fully generalizable speaker feed decoder
(such as http://www.kokkinizita.net/linuxaudio/adec-pict.html)
2) G-format (fixed decode for the 5.1 layout)
(A) is pretty much a no-brainer, and minus some polish on marking up
the channel mapping we pretty much already do it today.
I think that some form of downmix support will be an essential feature
in the libraries. Most users will not...

Feature request: rewindable resampler
...cause of other TODO items, and
David Henningsson has hinted me to talk to you as an upstream of speex,
because, in his opinion, this "rewind" feature might be useful for other
applications. Hence this email :)

LAC 2008: live online Now!
The 6th annual Linux Audio Conference has begun in Cologne, Germany. It
runs today through March 2nd, 2008. As with each previous year this
year's conference is streamed live over the internet in ogg theora via
icecast. The stream status page can be found at:
http://lac.linuxaudio.org
This year we are in the unique situation of having a Gigabit link
donated by CITIZENMEDIA: http://www.ist-citizenmedia.org/ They have
asked us to use up as much of their bandwidth as we can so they can see
how well the link performs. Please forward this information widely so
we can help them...

...3 decoders which nearly meet the definition of a Classic Ambisonic Decoder and hence perform at least as well as the old hardware decoders.
Bruce Wiggins' WAD http://sparg.derby.ac.uk/SPARG/Staff_BW.asp
David McGriffy's VVMic http://mcgriffy.com
Fon's AmbDec http://www.kokkinizita.net/linuxaudio
WAD is the obvious answer if you are an evil Windoz user as it links nicely into Windoz Media Player. VST version also.
VVMic is the most flexible. VST version also.
Fon's stuff is the choice for Linux. It is the only fully compliant Classic Ambisonic software Decoder with matched phase S...

FLAC currently won't compile for Android [bisected]
Hi,
I couldn't figure out how to file a bug in the bugtracker at sourceforge.
So I send a report this way.
Building FLAC from git for Android fails with the following message:
utils.c: In function 'get_console_width':
utils.c:181:17: error: storage size of 'w' isn't known
utils.c:181:17: warning: unused variable 'w' [-Wunused-variable]

Yes, HAVE_SYS_PARAM_H is set in config.h:
#define HAVE_SYS_PARAM_H 1
